A new BMW M1 might be in the works

May 25, 2011, By CarsAddict

According to a BMW insider, the designers from the German automaker are considering bringing back a true successor to the iconic M1 and a new BMW M1 might be under development right now. The strategy has just begun and even though there are only a couple of sketches and ideas about this car right now, it might go in the works.

The future M1 is currently dubbed M-One because it could be the first of its kind in the new generation of BMW cars with new materials, and parts that BMW is expected to use in their upcoming vehicles. The car reportedly adopts styling elements from the I8 and Vision Connected Drive concept.

If approved, the M1 would be probably launched on the market in 4 or 5 years, but there’s nothing certain at the moment. Since we’re talking about a future M1, the M1 Hommage concept was back in our attention and there are rumors that the new model might borrow a couple of styling tweaks from the concept.
