Alfa Romeo SUV is in the works

Alfa Romeo unveiled an SUV concept called Kamal at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003 but since then the production version of the car was on indefinite hold. Today though, the car is back in our attention with a couple of photos taken by an employee from one of Fiat’s firms. This is an Alfa Romeo SUV test mule and since it looks a lot like the Kamal concept it might be something close to the production version of the SUV.

There have been a couple of rumors lately that the Alfa Romeo Kamal SUV will go into production on the 159 model platform from 2010 but nothing was confirmed yet. After Fiat started to buy Chrysler, their plans regarding the first SUV by Alfa Romeo probably changed since Alfa Romeo has more possibilities of having a platform for building an SUV and it might even borrow a couple of things from Chrysler.

Initially, everyone thought that these photos are photoshopped but after taking a closer look to them we can clearly see that these are real and the long awaited Alfa Romeo SUV might be closer than ever to its launch. We will probably receive an official opinion about these pictures and about the upcoming Alfa SUV when Fiat will release their mid term plans later this month.
