Even if there are a lot of people that say that Frankfurt was not one of the most exciting car shows of the year, this does not mean that there were not plenty of interesting things that were able to entertain us.

The world’s largest and probably most important auto show of the year, the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, ended has over the weekend, leaving us all drooling over the brand new models and stunning concepts that have been premiered there in these last weeks.
It was one of the most exciting auto shows in recent memory with more world premieres we could possibly think of, actually more premieres than we could even cover.. The car were amazing and the ladies near those cars were, as always, another attraction of the auto show.
So, here’s another example of why the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show was one of the best shows ever: a gallery with the lovely ladies from the auto show!

Lotus also unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show a racercar based on the Exige, the Lotus Exige R-GT, a car with which the company wants to get back to rallying, more than three decades ago after they’ve won the WRC with a Talbot Sumbeam.
Under the hood, the car “hides” the same 3.5L supercharged V6 engine as the standard model but it features many important upgrades at the gearbox and several restrictions on the engine to control the power of this unit. Since it has to comply the FIA R-GT regulations, the car features a steel roll cage, front and rear underbody protections, side protections, lexan side windows and an air scoop on the roof making its total weight go up to 1,200 kg.
The Lotus Exige R-GT also features a suspension tuned for racing with double A-arms and 3 way adjustable dampers, front and rear, an upgraded 6 speed sequential transmission, racing brakes and many other upgrades designed to turn a regular Exige into a true racecar.
Probably the most important car showcased by Lotus at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year is the brand new 2012 Lotus Exige S, a car that Lotus claims to be the ultimate lightweight high performance sportscar.
The new Exige S comes with an aggressive body and weights only 1,080 kg, which is around 145 kg more than the previous version but it also has 130 HP more under the hood thanks to a more powerful engine, 3.5L V6 which is able to produce 350 HP.
The new Exige S will come equipped with high performance Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires and a Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) switch which allows the driver to choose between three different set ups: Touring, Sport and DPM off. For the interior, there will be two packages: Premium for comfort and style and Premium Sport for the ultimate driving pleasure and experience with an optimal cockpit.
The new Lotus Exige S will be also available with a Rack Pack option that adds a fourth driving more called Race that will provide maximum traction for the tires, Launch Control and an optimized suspension.
Lamborghini showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show a special edition of their Gallardo dubbed as the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, based on the race cars that participate in the one-make Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship. This special edition will be produced in a limited run of just 150 units according to the Italian supercar maker.
The power of the V10 engine under the hood was slightly increased to 570 HP and 540 Nm of torque which also makes the engine sound like a true racing unit. Next, this supercar also went through a weight reduction process and now weights only 1,340 which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, to 200 km/h in 10.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 320 km/h (exactly 200 mph).
This updated V10 is connected to an electronically controlled six speed semi automatic gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddles. The car also features a launch control system called Thrust Mode, high performance racing brakes and a tuned suspension and steering that will give the driver the closest experience to a racecar possible.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is finished in a brand new red paint called Rosso Mars that resembles Italy’s traditional racing red but customers could also get this supercar in Grigio Telesno grey and Bianco Monocerus white and they could even get the roof painted in black to match the large race inspired rear spoiler which is also black.
Inside, this special edition features carbon fiber seats, Alcantara leather that covers almost everything, and even high tech systems such as sat nav, Bluetooth connectivity, an anti-theft system and a lifting system that raises the front axle.
One of the new models showcased by Audi at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year was the 2012 Audi RS5 Facelift, a car which received a refreshed look and several small upgrades from its predecessor.
In terms of design, the new Audi RS5 features a redesigned front fascia with new headlamps with LED daytime running lights and the rear end was also redesigned featuring new tail lights. Compared to the 2012 Audi A5, the RS5 is 23 mm longer, 6 mm wider and 6 mm lower and comes equipped with brand new 20″ alloy wheels. The interior of the car will feature a new sports steering wheel, a redesigned ignition key and gear shifter and several more styling tweaks.
Under the hood, the facelifted RS5 will feature the same engine as the current model, a 4.2L naturally aspired unit which is able to produce 450 HP and 430 Nm of torque with the same performances as the current model.
Brabus has officially revealed the world’s fastest street legal sedan, based on the new generation Mercedes CLS, a car that’s almost as fast as a rocket which was dubbed as the “Brabus Rocket 800“. The car was premiered and showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show and the “800” from its name represent the total horsepower it has under the hood.
The Brabus Rocket 800 is powered by a highly modified V12 Biturbo high capacity engine which is able to produce 800 HP and 1,420 Nm of torque which was later limited to “just” 1,100 Nm of torque. With all this power under the hood, this sedan is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.8 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in just 23.8 seconds reaching a record breaking top speed of 370 km/h (230 mph).
Since this car is a lot faster than a standard Mercedes CLS, other parts of the car had to be modified as well to support the extra power and the Brabus Rocket 800 features a seven-speed quick shift transmission with steering wheel mounted paddles which is connected to a limited slip differential with several final drive ratios.
A new high performance braking system with 12 piston aluminium calipers and vented and grooved steeled discs up front and 6 piston calipers at the back was also installed on the car and a new set of ultra light one-piece Monoblock F alloy wheels wrapped in high performance tires were also equipped on this CLS.
The BRABUS ROCKET 800 will have a starting price of 429,000 EUR according to the company’s press release.
Land Rover unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show two exciting new SUV concepts, the Defender DC100 Concept and the Defender DC100 Sport Concept, both build on the essential elements of the Defender’s character. These concepts might give everyone an idea on how the future models from Land Rover might look like.
The Land Rover Defender DC100 Sport Concept is apparently an expression of freedom and leisure, being made of a lightweight fixed alloy platform and cutting-edge materials taken from the aerospace industry. The concepts also feature state of the art technologies such as the Terrain-i scanning which scans for obstacles and warns the driver, the Wade Aid which uses sonar to detect the water depth and a special Terrain response system which automatically adjusts the car’s suspension to the terrain.
Both concepts will feature permanent all wheel drive, an 8 speed transmission, Intelligent start/stop and a transfer case as well. The future Defender is going to be launched on the market only somewhere in 2015 but these concepts might give us a hint on how it might look like.
Ford unveiled a brand new Ford Fiesta ST Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show these days, a high performance Fiesta concept that’s probably going to enter production in the near future. Ford has announced they want to continue Fiesta’s 35 year history of small yet powerful cars and the ST Concept will feature a pretty good 1.6L Turbocharged EcoBoost engine that will produce 180 PS and 240 Nm of torque.
With this engine, the Ford Fiesta ST Concept can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62mph) in less than 7 seconds and it could reach a top speed of 220 km/h. The engine will be connected to a 6 speed manual gearbox and the concept will also feature a dynamic sport chassis and an optimal suspension geometry for great handling.
The exterior of the Fiesta ST Concept was mostly inspired from the Fiesta RS WRC car with elements that make it look more muscular and aggressive such as a different grille with a honeycomb mesh design, a new rear diffuser with room for two exhaust pipes and many other new styling elements.
The car in these photos was finished in Molten Orange with the same color theme being continued in the car’s interior that also features Recaro sports seats.
Volvo has unveiled today at the Frankfurt Motor Show the Volvo Concept You, a car that’s going to give a good indication of what to expect from the company’s next large sedan. The sleek exterior look of the car will be combined with a high tech interior with an intuitive smart pad technology which will be hallmark of the future Volvos and will be also combined with high levels of luxury.
The company wants to compete with the best with their special kind of luxury in the future, intuitive and uncomplicated. The center console of the concept consists of four main areas: a digital Driver Information Monitor, a headup display on the windscreen, a touch screen in the upper part of the centre console and a touch screen between the rear seats as well, all interacting with the driver based on his reactions.
The Volvo Concept You is apparently inspired by Georg Jense, featuring a liquid metal paint from DuPont and many elements that make it truly unique and very interesting.
