A Ferrari F50 Crashes Along Manhattan Traffic
The black Ferrari F50 that is being driven by a shirtless guy in a YouTube video has now ended up in a salvage yard in Connecticut. The car’s front is totally wrecked and looks impossible to be repaired. There is not much information as to how the supercar got totaled but one thing is for sure, the supercar hit something really hard for it to be totally wrecked that way.
The driver of the Ferrari F50 during the crash is safe and uninjured. Although it is not clear who was driving the car at that time. According to reports, this particular Ferrari F50 is the last to be sold in the US which amounts to $528,000 in 2002. When you have the video of this guy and see how he drives his Ferrari, it is not unusual that it will end up this way. It only proves that money can’t buy everything and rich people don’t have it all.
A brand new Ferrari F50 is sold for $1.7 million and it is hard to believe that the wrecked black Ferrari F50 can no longer be repaired or at least resold and making a profit around that price tag. The repairs are not cheap, obviously. A new engine alone already costs a few thousand dollars. You do the math.
Reports say the said F50 just got a new 4.7L V12 after the owner blew the original. The car bid started at $103, 000. Reports also say the supercar was totaled by its insurance company. There were rumors going around the web about the real cause of the accident. Some says the driver of the car passed out and smashed the F50 into a tree after a carbon monoxide leak on the car’s cabin. Others say this is unlikely because the top of the car is open.
Rumors also say that the speed of impact is around 50mph. Others believe that a carbon monoxide leak is an unlikely cause. For some, the crash could be a result of reckless driving. Young people nowadays love to showoff and many believe that this is just one of those showoff times gone badly. Well, if the owner was able to afford such a luxury car, he can surely afford another one, can he? Albeit the fact that rich people can afford to buy a new luxury if ever they wreck what they currently have, that is not a good enough reason to be a bad driver.
Remember, although you are financially blessed compared to the majority of people, you do not privately own the road. This means there are unsuspecting people on the road that will be affected when you mess up with your driving. In case, you got into an accident and no one got hurt, you still damaged somebody else’s property when you crashed your car. If you smash your car on a road railing, it is taxpayers’ money used for building and maintaining those. Hence, you ought to show some respect and decency by trying not to crash just because you’re a show off.
Pagani Zonda F – The Million Dollar Car Crash
On January 2012, one of the 25 Pagani Zonda F units that were ever manufactured was wrecked in a gruesome car accident in Hong Kong. Reports say that the driver is driving at full speed and lost control causing the car to hit a tree before it hit a column. The car received extensive damage on its front and rear end. Albeit the extensive damage that the supercar went through, the driver of the car was left unharmed. Thanks to the highly commendable technology of Pagani Zonda F.
The carbon fiber tub of the said supercar received a lot of damage which will obviously make it an expensive repair job. The carbon-fiber body of the said supercar is seen shattered all over the street, making it a gruesome scene. That would not be a write off though. Pagani is well known for repairing cars that went through great damage. But of course, that comes with a hefty price tag.
In 2008, another Pagani Zonda F faced a terrible fate in an accident that happened in Poland. As usual, the driver was on full speed and lost control, causing the car to crash into a tree in reverse. What makes this accident really terrible is that the car’s engine was caught on fire after the car slammed on the tree. Since the engine and the outer shell of this supercar are lost in the crash, there is no assurance that it can still be repaired.
Another similar event happened in Hong Kong in December 2011 wherein a Pagani Zonda crashed on a row of parked cars because the driver tried not to crash on an out of control truck. The owner of the luxury car just came from a racing track event when the unfortunate accident happened. The repairs would be costly, of course. But as expected, the driver came out of the car with no major injuries. That’s the beauty of these luxury cars. They can be greatly damaged, but the driver has a higher percentage of surviving with minimal injuries.
Problem is, due to the outstanding build and excellent safety features of these luxury cars, the owners forget that even supercars can be damaged on a major car accident. The owners of these cars may be so overwhelmed with all the world-class features of these supercars that they feel immortal when they are driving one.
Supercar owners should always remember that smart driving is a prerequisite for every driver. Most road accidents happen because the driver is drunk or too sleepy to drive. These accidents can be prevented if only drivers are responsible enough. Luxury cars are not only a feast for the eyes but they are also terribly expensive. If you own one, it is common knowledge that you are rich enough to afford luxurious things. But that does not mean you can drive as recklessly as you want when you are on the road. You should also think of the safety of others. Besides, not all people are as rich as you are.
Rare Aston Martin One-77 Crashed In Hong Kong
The Aston Martin One-77 is among the rarest luxury cars ever built. There were only 77 of these cars to be produced, hence it name, making it very rare. Aston Martin One 77 is sold out, making it the most sought-after rare luxury car in the world. Not only is this car very luxurious, it is also one of the most expensive supercars ever invented in this word as of date.
To see a car this great, wrecked and damaged is truly heartbreaking. Not to mention the amount of money you have to send to get it fixed, if it is still repairable. A limited edition Aston Martin One-77 costs around £1.4 million but this still depends on where the buyer is located and the level of personalization that you want.
In China, they are willing to spend $7 million (47 million Yuan) just to have one of these luxury cars. That is why it is truly sad to know that an Aston Martin One-77 is wrecked because the driver hit a curb while driving at full speed. To make it even worse, the rare luxury car is believed to be brand-new. According to reports, the car was just delivered to the owner a few weeks ago before the accident transpired. It is also believed that the wrecked Aston Martin One-77 is among the lasts to be produced.
What is really great about these luxury cars is the safety of its passengers. Despite the heavy damage that the car went through on the front and on the side, the main passenger cell of the car remains intact and unharmed. This is because of the super strong carbon fiber monocoque that Aston uses in its luxury cars. This feature is unique to Aston Martin One-77, making it a real eye-candy to luxury car enthusiasts.
This supercar also boasts of its 7.0 liters V12 engine which is capable of producing 522kW/750Nm. It is really unfortunate that a supercar such as an Aston Martin One-77 ends up like this. The car accident happened in Hong Kong but the owner is said to be from Shenzhen, China.
Driving a rare supercar such as the Aston martin One-77 definitely makes you feel powerful and extremely wealthy. But that does not mean you can forget about your driving skills. Just think about the millions of dollars that you spent just to have this supercar. That is enough reason for you to drive safe and smart especially on a busy road.
The owner of the wrecked One-77 must be sobbing really hard not because of the injuries that he incurred but because his One-77 is greatly damaged. The once beautiful, elegant and luxurious supercar is now a mess. The damaged supercar will be transported back to the UK for further assessment of the damages and to see if the car is still repairable. The repair cost is expected to be near $1 million. That’s a lot of money wasted and a great car messed up due to one’s recklessness.
Ferrari F430 Crashed in One of Nicolas Cage’s Movies
A stunt driver for the movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starring Nicolas Cage wrecked an expensive Ferrari F430 while on shoot in October 2009. The crew was filming the said movie wherein two cars are seen moving along through the NYC traffic when the driver of the Ferrari suddenly lost control due to the wet on the streets, jumped the curb and finally crashed into a Sbarro’s pizza outlet.
According to reports, the Ferrari also bumped into an electrical post which later fell into the supercar. Worst part is, the supercar also struck an unknowing pedestrian who is not part of the crew or not related to the movie being filmed. It is not clear why there is a pedestrian in the area where the film is being shot. High budgeted movies usually close the streets whenever they do a chase scene such as this. It is not known if the passenger filed a lawsuit gaits the movie production.
The victims of the unfortunate car accident (the driver and the pedestrian), were brought to the nearest Bellevue Hospital and none of them were seriously hurt. The movie production must not be happy with this accident because they have to shelve a big amount for the repair of the Sbarro’s outlet where the supercar crashed. A lot of netizens commented on this accident. Most of them are car enthusiasts.
One commenter pointed out that the stunt driver should have switched into reverse when the car slid on the wet and floored it. This kind of stunt is usually done in Tokyo drift which means it can be done, considering that the one driving the car is a stun driver. Others commented that the driver hit the gas while the supercar was swerving around the cars wherein he also lost traction. Some people say the driver did nothing wrong it’s just that he did not leave any room for error for himself. It is also dumb to let locals pass by the sidewalk while filming a chase scene.
There is a reason they close down the streets when filming scenes such as these because they want to avoid accidents like this one. People are still wondering how a local pedestrian made its way to the film site. There should have been clear signage telling pedestrian not to cross or walk because a movie is being filmed. It is also not clear to car enthusiasts how the stunt driver lost control of the supercar. Stunt drivers are trained for car stunts like this. It seems like the driving skills of the stunt driver needs some prepping up.
To be able to drive a Ferrari F430 is a dream come true to car enthusiasts. So if you are not that rich and you are given a chance to drive such a luxury car, you will make it a point to enjoy the car as much as you can without wrecking it. Well, it’s a relief to know that the Ferrari F430 is up for repairs.
McLaren F1 Most Famous Car Crash
Everybody knows Rowan Atkinson, the funny British actor who starred in Blackadder and Mr. Bean. He’s such an effective comedian, he is known worldwide.
In October 1999, Rowan Atkinson was involved in a tragic road accident. The British comedian’s McLaren smashed on the rear of a Rover Metro which was reportedly driven by a 62 year old Margaret Greenhalgh. The driver of the Rover Metro was sent to the hospital and was treated for minor whiplash injuries while the Mr. Bean actor went out of his car unhurt.
The front wing and the bonnet of the McLaren F1 owned by Atkinson were damaged due to the impact of the collision. On the other hand, the Metro’s rear sill received a dent from the accident. Mr. Atkinson is said to be driving north that day on the A6 at Forton near Lancaster, Lancanshire.
But this incident is not the last of Mr. Bean. In August 2011, Atkinson was again involved in a car accident while driving his McLaren F1. He lost control of his 240mph supercar while he was driving on a slippery section of the A605 near Peterborough. Atkinson’s supercar reportedly hit a tree and burst into flames. The McLaren F1 is one of the most expensive and rarest supercars in the world. Only 64 of these supercars were ever made. It is believed that a McLaren can cost up to £3 million.
The popular comedian escaped from the accident although he suffered from a broken shoulder. The Mclaren F1, on the other hand, suffered a different fate. It was extremely wrecked from the crash. The rear of the supercar is greatly damaged while its 6.1 liter engine was found 20 yards away from the body of the car.
This luxury car crash was most controversial due to the record-high insurance claim that Atkinson got from its insurers. His insurers shelled out a hefty £910,000 for repairs. Although Atkinson recovered quickly from the accident, his supercar has to spend more than one year in the McLaren’s Woking base while it is under repair. The damage on the said luxury car is so extensive; the cost of the repairs is extensively high. The total bill of the repair is three times higher compared to the past record holding highest insurance payout in 2010 by Aviva.
Rowan Atkinson is known as a car enthusiast aside from being an actor and comedian. The McLaren F1 is not the only luxury car that Atkinson has driven. Among his list are the Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Aston Martins and Lancias. This only proves that Mr. Atkinson has a great eye for expensive and fast supercars.
The McLaren F1 is one of the fastest cars ever made. It can travel 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds. With this kind of speed, who would want to slow down? But of course, Atkinson would need to consider his driving skills as well. But, considering the highly commended safety features of these expensive supercars, the driver would likely enjoy its super speed before he thinks of its consequences.
More Ferrari Enzo’s Are Biting the Dust
There has been a rise in luxury car crashes these past years and among those crashes, the Ferrari Enzo seems to top the list. The Enzo Ferrari is obviously one of the most expensive and fastest supercars in the world with its selling value of $1.3million. Given its high price tag and rareness, one must think that the owners of these cars would take extra care whenever they drive. But it seems these multimillionaires do not really care if they end the life of their Enzo.
Just take for example the accident that happened in Malibu on February 2006. The Enzo was wrecked into half as a result of the car crash. According to reports, the car was running at a top speed of 199mph before the driver lost control and the car malfunctioned due to the accident. Stefan Erikssen, a former Gizmondo executive who was driving the car, suffered a bloody lip as a result of the whiplash. Upon investigation, police reported that Mr. Erikssen is intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Ferrari technicians estimated that the repairs for the Enzo would be in between $250,000 to $300,000. This accident was closely followed by the police and media due to the controversies surrounding the owner of the supercar and how the said supercar made its way to the United States.
In 2009, another beautifully crafted Enzo bid its goodbye. The driver of a 2003 yellow Ferrari Enzo lost control and crashed on one of Japan’s expressway guardrail. The front of the car is heavily damaged due to the crash which is said to be due to light Japanese rain. Rumormongers say the yellow Enzo was running at a top speed and lost control until it smashed into the guardrail. Perhaps the driver needs to understand that some skills are needed when you are driving. It is understandable to run at a high speed, considering you have an Enzo, but that also means you are smart enough to know when to slow down when you need to.
And of course, another Ferrari Enzo burst into flames in 2006 when it crashed into a tree in the resort city in Nice, France. The owner is a Russian billionaire in the name of Suleiman Kerimov. Kerimov is said to be driving his Ferrari with a woman who has been identified as Tina Kandelaki, a Russian TV host, lingerie expert and a model for a Russian equivalent of FHM. Eyewitnesses claim that the driver of the said Enzo was driving on a really high speed, which explains the damage caused to the car. Kerimov was reportedly injured and the woman beside him on the passenger seat suffered burns on her hands and thighs. In this case, it seems like a supercar and a hot woman is not a good combination after all. First off, you need to be focused when you are driving. A hot woman inside your luxury car can be a big distraction. Just imagine all the possibilities (wink, wink).
Crashed Luxury Cars – Ferrari Edition
Ferrari is a world-renowned sports car manufacturer based in Italy. Ferrari is known for its continued participation in racing, specifically Formula One. Ferrari is seen as a symbol of luxury, wealth and great speed. To own a Ferrari car is a status symbol not only of great wealth but of power as well.
It is unfortunate that some people who own a Ferrari end up wrecking their multi-million dollar car due to their own carelessness. In an unfortunate event in 2011, 14 luxury cars piled-up in Japan. This could be the most expensive car crash in history. The pile-up includes eight Ferraris, two Mercedes and a Lamborghini. The damage is estimated at £2.6 million. According to reports, one of the Ferrari drivers lost control due to the wet road.
Police investigators believe that the drivers of the luxury cars are over speeding causing one of the Ferrari drivers to lose control while it’s trying to change lanes on a wet surface. The Ferrari hit a barrier and went back sinning on the road. The other luxury cars behind tried to slam on their brakes but still collided as they tried not to smash on the first car. At least ten people were taken to the hospital but none of them were seriously hurt.
Eyewitnesses saw the luxury cars racing past each other along the Chugoku Expressway in Southern Honshu. Reports suggest that the luxury cars are running at 90mph which is way beyond the speed limit of 50mph. The Ferraris are said to have been damaged severely that they need to be scrapped.
Such accident is a pitiful way to lose a luxury car such as a Ferrari. Most owners of these sports cars forget that even though these cars are made from high quality materials which are strong and durable, they do still crash and gets damaged. This mass car wreck should serve as a lesson to luxury car owners. Even though their cars are the best among the best, it can still be damaged if you do not drive smart.
It is true that driving a high-powered car can be overwhelming, to the point that you lose control and forget about reality. That’s okay if you are not in a highway. Remember, you are not the only driver when you are on the road, so you have to consider the other cars as well.
Although, these cars are known to withstand a lot of pressure and they go through rigorous crash tests before they are brought out in the market. The series of tests that these luxury cars go through ensures that the passengers will not incur serious harm in case they go through an accident. That fact has just been proven by this accident. Even if the luxury cars were a total wreck, the drivers were not seriously injured.
In case the manufacturers of these luxury cars are able to rebuild these wrecked beauties into their former glory, the owners will surely see to it that they drive smart especially when on the highway.
Crashed Supercars – Getting Even Worse
There have been a number of supercar crashes lately and it seems to be becoming a trend. These luxury cars are built to be durable and safe alright but they can still be damaged if you crash it or slam it into a tree or something hard such as a fence or a railing.
It seems like these multimillionaires are too much into fun that they forget they also need to take some care even when they are riding an expensive and luxurious supercar. One good example is the crashed Lamborghini Gallardo in Cape Town, South Africa in August 2009. During those times, the weather in not that friendly to motorist due to storms causing wet on the roads. But, during the time the Gallardo hit an electricity box, the roads were obviously dry.
Most often than not, the driver wasn’t paying attention on the road which caused him to veer off a pavement and hit the other side of the supercar into the electric box. The smash caused a significant damage on the rear end and the back wheel. Of course, the poor Lamborghini Gallardo ended up in the workshop which means the owner will have to shelve a few thousand dollars for the repairs. This is exactly why you need to go through a series of driving tests to ensure that you are road-worthy driver.
Another case of bad driving and bad decision-making is the accident that happened in Oklahoma City involving four junior baseball players. Their coach apparently loaned them his 1995 Ferrari 348 and 1991 Ferrari Testarossa for some reason. End result – the Ferraris were wrecked by the junior high baseball players in a parking lot inside a mall.
The Ferrari 348 suffered significant damage on the front while the Testarossa’s front wheel and side door was smashed due to the Ferrari 348 crashing into it. What an unfortunate turn of events. Lesson learned; do not loan your Ferraris to high school baseball players.
In another expensive supercar crash, an athlete is involved. The striker for North London Arsenal fro Premier League, Nicklas Bendtner, smashed his $270,000 Aston Martin DBS. The luxury car came crashing through a fence before it smashed into the trees. The 21-year old footballer came out of the uninjured but the supercar suffered extensive damage. This is a clear reminder that driving is a skill that needs to be learned.
A Lamborghini Diablo faced an unfortunate fate when the driver/owner of the said supercar tried to wow the crowd with his “super stunts” but ended up losing control of the car. This unfortunate event happened during a racing event in Europe. The over confident Lamborghini driver planned to amuse the crowd by making a flamboyant exit from the starting point. The raging supercar turns into a side road and smashed into the parked truck. The accident sure put a lot of damage on the Lamborghini. The owner must have learnt his lesson. Make sure you know your driving skills and capabilities first before you try to show off.
Expensive Luxury Car Crash
It is such an awesome sight when you see a luxury car on the road with lightning speed that makes it a more breathtaking sight. But it is really a devastating scene when you see these supercars wrecked beyond recognition due to an accident that is clearly due to the driver’s stupidity.
Just take for example the accident that happened in February 2010. A Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 collided with a brand new Ferrari F430. The drivers of the said luxury cars just came from a VIP wedding reception in South Africa. It appears that the Lamborghini received great damage on its front rear on the left and on its lower body on the right. Assessing from the way the cars were damaged, it appears like they were having a race and the driver of the Lamborghini might have lost control. This caused the Lamborghini LP640 to smash on the Ferrari.
The Ferrari F430 seems to have received lesser damage compared to the Lamborghini but the damage is also extensive. Talk about a few hundred thousand dollars for repair, if ever possible. The driver of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 is said to be a former hitman who was convicted and jailed but was given political amnesty, so he is released from prison and is free to drive supercars.
These luxury cars are not extremely expensive for nothing. Although the supercars are greatly damaged, as expected the drivers are out and about without a scratch. When people around the area of accident tried to get photos of the wrecked supercars, the owners reportedly beat them up. When the police arrived, the drivers refused to provide any statement or accident report. According to reports, the drivers also ignored the beatings and took no responsibility for it.
Perhaps, the drivers of these supercars do not want anyone to take a picture of their wrecked cars because people will know how stupid and expensive their mistake was. The problem with driving a supercar is that you get too engrossed with all its latest technology and mouth-watering features that you forget it is still a car and yes, it can be damaged. Of course when you own a supercar, it is obvious that you have more than enough money to pay for your car’s damage. Moreover, you must have a really comprehensive car insurance.
This is why rich people don’t really mind if their ultra expensive luxury cars get wrecked. But that doesn’t mean you can drive recklessly. It is always nice to remember that there are also average people who own humble cars that passes on the same road that you do. They don’t have the same safety features and outstanding technology that your supercar does.
Being able to drive at a supercar at a great speed is really something special. But you might consider going to a race track for this. Remember, your supercar is built with love and extra care. It’s a shame to just get it wrecked and bite the dust due to a stupid accident.
How Billionaire Teenagers Drive Their Luxury Supercars
Supercars are not given such a name for nothing. Aside from they are super expensive and luxurious; they are also incredibly fast, highly secured and super-packed with features that are not common to ordinary cars.
Since these luxury supercars are expensive, only the rich multimillionaires are able to afford such type of cars. Only a few privileged teenagers are able to drive these supercars in such a young age. But it seems like these teenagers know this early that they have so much money, they don’t really care about their driving skills. They can pay for the wreckage anyway or buy a new supercar, whichever they desire.
Take the case of the smashed Ferrari F430 in Moscow. The supercar is said to be driven by the 19 year old sons of a top bank manager in Russia. According to reports, the two teenager millionaire heirs seem to be having some fun with their Ferrari F430 with a speed of 125mph. The boys lost control of the supercar and ended up smashing at the back of a Range Rover. The Ferrari is totally wrecked and the two teenagers needed to be cut from the car. They were sent to the hospital for full recovery.
The passengers of the Range Rover were unhurt and fortunately, no bystanders or pedestrians were hurt. It is unfortunate for the father to learn about the fate of the Ferrari but he must be happy his boys were safe. This time, the father might think of sending his teenage boys to a driving school, in case they still intend to drive yet another supercar in the future.
In a separate incident in March 2012, the son of the richest man in Brazil, Thor Batista, smashed his Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren when he accidentally ran over a cyclist over Washington Luiz Highway which is just outside Rio de Janeiro. The 20-year old billionaire, the heir of the business tycoon Eike Batista, accidentally hit Wanderson Pereira, 30 years old, who happens to be riding on his bike on the day of the tragedy. The cyclist died immediately after the accident. Thor Batista on the other hand, survived the accident with just minor cuts in the chest and arm.
The Batista family reportedly paid for the funeral of the victim. It is unfortunate for these tragic accidents to happen. It is very important to stay focused when you are driving. It also does not hurt to show some courtesy and a little sensitivity on the road. Remember, you are riding a supercar and the majority of the people on the road are riding in their ordinary, humble vehicles. People understand that you feel empowered because you are riding on a rare, luxury car but that does not mean you can drive recklessly whenever you want. Sure, you may survive the accident, considering the high-end safety features of supercars. But how about the others on the road who are not as rich as you and can only afford humble cars with lesser safety features compared to yours?
Supercar Misfortunes Under the Hands of Their Unfortunate Drivers
It is always sad to see a supercar die a gruesome death. In the recent years, supercars seem to be crashed more often, if not by foolish teenagers, count on drivers who does not have the proper driving skills but totally denies it and blames it on the car.
In Spain, a Porsche Carrera GT hit the curb and got launched on the side of the road on a very peculiar manner. One side hits the ground while the other side is on top, on a sideways manner. It is not sure how the Carrera got into this position but one thing is for sure, the car must be running really fast because it is not possible to park like this in a low speed. There are only a few Carrera GTs that were built and it’s a shame to lose such a beauty this way.
Your wedding day should be one of the happiest and most memorable days in your life. But not to this British groom who crashed his rented Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 – memorable, yes but happy, not at all. David Gallucci is driving the Lamborghini that was rented for him by his fiancée on the way to the church when he suddenly lost control of the car causing it to be totaled. The damage to the car reportedly reached $260, 240. That is such a pain in the head and the wallet. Well, this groom should have learned his lesson by now. He must not drive a supercar unless he is confident that he’s driving skills are good enough to handle such. Furthermore, he should be more cautious when driving, especially when the car is just rented.
How about a Bugatti EB110 crashing in a closed road in Moscow? It appears that the driver of the Bugatti EB110 wrecked the supercar’s rear in an unfortunate accident. It is not clear how the accident happened but judging on the damage the supercar received, there is no doubt it is running at top speed. The driver must have lost control and the supercar spiraled on the street until it smashed its rear on the concrete barriers. It’s a good thing the road is closed for their event, no locals were harmed.
In New York, a dealer just made the worst decision in his life. He decided to take his customer’s Koenigsegg CCX out for a spin but for some sheer unfortunate luck, he managed to smash the borrowed car into a wall and into a parked Porsche 911. The cost of the damage is sure hefty. It seems like the dealer here is having a case of a really bad day.
This New York dealer must have learned his lesson. Do not take a friend’s supercar out for a spin if you do not have enough cash for possible damages. Also, choose a different place where you can test drive your customer’s supercar other than the New York streets. You should know better next time. Do not break what you do not own.
Supercars Burning In Flames
In the recent years, there has been an increase in flaming supercars which ignited the Supercar Flame War. In 2009, a Ferrari Enzo was burnt to crisps in Canada. The supercar appeared to be an Italian barbecue on the roadside. It’s really painful to see a Ferrari Enzo end up this way.
In another heart-breaking incident, a Romanian owner of a newly-bought Ferrari F430 learnt the lesson of crash and burn the hard way. The driver reportedly crashed his newly owned F430 which set the supercar on fire. This is definitely not a good start but on a positive note, now the driver knows that he still needs to improve his driving skills and realize that smart driving is a must especially when you are driving an expensive supercar.
And still in 2009, a $2million worth McLaren F1 burst into flames in Santa Rosa, California. The owner reportedly had it in storage for 6 months and decided to drive it out for a spin. The fire quickly consumed the carbon fiber body of the supercar and its 6.0L BMW V12; the fire actually burnt it perfectly. This rare gem is said to be valued at $2million and is insured for $3million. It’s really sad to see such a magnificent luxury car end this way.
And yet another Ferrari was burned to death. In 2009 still, A Russian owner just got his Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for 30 minutes when it suddenly burnt to flames. The owner, who was not named, claims that he was driving the said supercar for 30 minutes when he noticed that the collar of the luxury is starting to get hot which caused the brand new Italian supercar to burn completely. The said supercar was sold by the Russian owner for $850,000. Seeing a brand new Ferrari Scaglietti on this state is not only sad but more of gut wrenching.
But of course, it’s not all Ferrari. In the same year, a Lamborghini Gallardo was burnt to the ground in Sant’Agata, Athens, Greece. The yellow Gallardo is seen burning into flames on the sidewalk albeit the cause of the blaze is unknown. This is really a sad event but at least the owner knows someone out there is crying harder than he does – the owner of the burnt Ferrari Enzo, of course.
And this is not the end of it. Still on the same year, another Lamborghini Gallardo burnt to crisp, leaving only a tiny orange globule not burnt. According to reports, two men were test-driving the luxury car when they noticed a smoke coming from the engine bay which prompted them to bail. They did try to put out the fire using a hand-held extinguisher but it seems not enough so they had to call the fire fighters. Some says it’s due to insurance claims, others due to stupidity. Whatever the reasons are, one important lesson is learned here – always bring your fire extinguisher in case your supercar catches fire and think fast. It takes some brains to think clearly in these cases, of course.
World’s Fastest Car on a Fender Bender with a Delivery Truck
On a Saturday afternoon of August 2013, a fruit and vegetable delivery truck was caught on a fender bender with a white Bugatti Veyron at the Madison Avenue in New York City. It must be a very traumatic experience for the truck driver. And why is a Bugatti Veyron in the streets of Manhattan anyway?
It is not clear how these two cars got into the fender bender but what’s sure is that the repairs for the damaged Bugatti Veyron fender will cost a fortune. It is of great interest how a regular truck driver can afford to pay for a Bugatti Veyron repair. It is unfortunate that the closest encounter of the truck driver to a Bugatti Veyron is not a good experience.
The Bugatti Veyron is a French hand-made car that you don’t always see on the regular streets. There are only 500 of these supercars all over the world, which makes it rare and one of the most expensive luxury cars. The Bugatti Veyron is said to be the fastest street-legal car in the world which even makes it more special.
When you own such a wonderful and rare car, you should think a hundred times before you parade it on the streets of Manhattan. It appears that the owner/driver of the car is a big shot prince from Saudi Arabia, hence, its license plate with the “KSA” which stands for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It may be that the driver/owner of the car is not aware of the street conditions in Manhattan so he courageously took his Veyron out for a spin in New York.
You can obviously say from afar that a million dollar car is caught in an accident because the authorities are in the scene of the accident right away and a flatbed tow truck is already in place ready to load up the damaged Veyron. Not to mention the number of people who are very eager to take to take a sight of the rare luxury car. It’s not every day that you see a Veyron on the streets of New York, although this time, it’s caught in an accident, albeit minor.
One could imagine the horror that the truck driver went through during the accident. Suppose the one at fault is the owner of the Veyron, the truck driver would still be feeling anything but happy. Just the thought of wrecking a million dollar supercar is already nerve-wracking. The truck driver must also be very surprised as to what a rare luxury car such as a Veyron is doing in the busy streets of Manhattan. Now, reality sinks in and the truck driver finally realizes that he may need to pay for the damage in the Veyron which may cause around $24,000 at least. It is not a surprise if the truck driver passes out in his truck, or worse, has a heart attack.
Lesson learned: do not drive your Veyron or any other luxury car in the streets of New York if you are not ready for the consequences.
Authorities Crashing Luxury Supercars
Even authorities crash supercars. In 2009, FBI agents seized a Ferrari F50 from a drug dealer during a raid that they performed in the drug dealer’s storage warehouse. The FBI agent who drove the Ferrari lost control over the supercar, causing it to slid on the curb and smashed on a tree. As a result, the carbon-fiber body of the supercar was wrecked, totaling the rare vehicle.
The FBI agents blame the worn out tires on the F50, although there is a very big possibility that the smash is due to driver error. Of course, the FBI agents who drove the car will not admit to that and will stick to the bald tire story. Given the fact that the tires of the F50 were really bald, by the time the accident happened, the weather was fine and there were no wet on the streets. If the FBI agents have known better, they would know that little to no tread makes a tire stick more on a dry pavement.
The F50 has a sleek carbon fiber body and its production is limited. By the looks of it, the FBI agent who drove the car did around 5 to 6 figures of damage on the Ferrari F50. Question is, will the FBI be responsible for the damage?
The answer to that question seems very obvious. No. In March of 2010, the US Department of Justice denied the $750,000 request of the insurer using the argument that the wreckage took place while the Ferrari F50 was under detention by the FBI. It turns out that under Federal Law, the government is given immunity for damages to property in law enforcement custody. So this means law enforcement authorities such as the FBI can wreck your luxury supercar as long as they are on the job.
The insurer claimed the wreck Ferrari F50 and put it on auction in 2012. The bid started at $65,000. What a way to lose a great car such as a Ferrari F50.
In Italy, police officials also crashed their Lamborghini Gallardo police car. According to reports, the Lamborghini police car is on its way back to the precinct after it attended an exhibition in Cremona. The Lamborghini police car belongs to the Bologna police in Italy. Reports say a motorist cutoff the police car which caused it to plow a row of parked cars. A very unusual reason for a supercar to smash on parked cars. But just as expected, the law enforcers will not agree that it is their driving skills that are at fault. They will stick to their story until the end even if they knew they sound stupid and embarrassingly untrue.
It’s funny how authorities can get away with their violations just because they are the law enforcers. These law enforcers who were involved in supercar crashes should be give a retraining in driving lessons. They should also be instructed to focus whenever they are driving, especially when it is a rare luxury supercar. These cars are rare and not everyone is given a chance to ride one.
Classic Supercars Crashed
Classic luxury cars are very rare and utterly expensive for obvious reasons. It is very heart-wrenching to see such rare classics crashed and smashed due to one’s stupidity and lack of skill.
On February 2013, a rare and classic, original Mercedes Benz 300SL was wrecked during a test drive done by a 26 year old auto mechanic and his 19 year old apprentice. These two auto mechanics were running the classic car in Pleidelsheim, north of Stuttgart when the driver lost control and veered off the road, rolled over and damaged the classic car heavily on the front.
The owner of the said classic car remained calm when he heard the news, especially when he found out that it can be restored to its former glory. The car and the workshop are both insured and the damages that reached an estimated $830,000 were covered by the workshop’s insurance. The cause of the accident is not clear but police says the two ran the Mercedes Benz 300SL in a high speed, higher than the allowed maximum speed of 80mph.
Way back in 2003, a 1959 Ferrari 250GT was wrecked when it crashed on a wall during the Shell-Maserati Historic Challenge. It is hard to believe that owners of such beautiful classics are brave enough to gamble them on race tracks.
Among the most expensive classic luxury car damages is the 1961 Ferrari 250GT California Spyder. In May 2008, a black California Spyder was sold at an auction for more than $10,000,000. The unlucky owner of this red classic California Spyder stored his classic supercar near the beach when a hurricane hit. There was a significant damage on the car, which means a hefty price tag on the repairs.
Just when you thought a classic car crash can no longer get more expensive, think again. The 1962-64 Ferrari 250GTO is the world’s most valuable supercar when it was sold at an auction for $28.5 million to an unnamed English buyer. What’s unfortunate is that, this classic car got smashed on its front when the owner rammed the most expensive classic car in the world into the rear of another vehicle when the traffic slowed down. The worth of this classic beauty is much more even when you combine 14 Ferrari Enzos that were involved in some sort of accidents. It is really hard to see such a grand luxury car wrecked and damaged this way.
The Englishmen seems to enjoy wrecking their classic cars. In UK, Edmund Burgess, a Bugatti enthusiast, is competing in the Prescott Speed Hill Climb when he crashed his classic 1924 Bugatti T13 as he is trying to round a corner. This classic car is valued at £250,000 and the damage to this rare beauty will be restored in about eight weeks. Burgess went out of the car unscathed. Instead of lamenting over his wrecked classic Bugatti, Burges decided to take some time to cool off in the nearest pub and took a pit or two of beer; seems to be a good way of getting your mind off of trouble for a while.
The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4, designed and developed by Volkswagen and manufactured by Bugatti, is a mid-engine sports car. The Super Sport version, or the Bugatti EB SS, holds the title of fastest road-legal production car in the world.
The Veyron EB 16.4 is named after Pierre Veyron, a Bugatti test driver, engineer, and also company race driver who won the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans race with a Bugatti; the EB comes from Ettore Bugatti, the founder of Bugatti; and the 16.4 is due to the engine having 16 cylinders and 4 turbochargers.
The Bugatti EB SS is a limited edition two-door coupé variant of the Veyron, and is faster, lighter, and more powerful than the standard production model. The engine was uprated to pump out 1,200 hp, almost 200 hp more than the standard model. The Veyron’s 8-liter engine was given even larger turbochargers and bigger intercooler to boost the power output. Peak torque was increased to 1,500 Nm from 1,250 Nm.
There were no released acceleration figures for the Super Sport version, but the standard Veyron could go from zero to 100 kph in 2.2 seconds. It can be expected that the Super Sport variant would be slightly faster than that. It is said to be able to go from zero to 300 kph in a little less than 15 seconds.
In the presence of representatives from the Guinness Book of Records, the average top speed recorded for the Bugatti EB SS was 431.07 kph or 268 mph. The production model’s top speed has been limited to 415 kph for safety reasons and to protect the car’s tires.
The suspension for the Bugatti EB SS was modified with new shock absorbers, stronger stabilizers, and a slightly raised mainspring travel. The company claims that it can pull lateral accelerations of up to 1.4 G versus the standard’s 1.25 G.
It features a dual-clutch direct-shift automatic transmission that is computer-controlled and has seven gear ratios. It can be driven in two modes: either semi-automatic or fully automatic. It is also a four-wheel drive and weighs in at a curb weight of 1888 kg. It has a fuel economy of 10.2 mpg and carbon emissions of 539g/km.
The Bugatti EB SS had a skin made of carbon fiber composites, and a fiber structure that was all-carbon for a reduction in weight. There were also some exterior modifications to distinguish it from the standard Veyron. There were two NACA ducts in the roof instead of scoops near the engine, expanded front air intakes, a central exhaust system, rear bumper with double diffuser, and a redesigned engine compartment.
For the interior, the Bugatti EB SS also underwent some changes, featuring exclusive trim materials and colors, and exclusive logos.
If you’re looking for the world’s fastest car, the current Bugatti EB SS holds the title. This is one incredibly fast car that has brought the Bugatti name back into the spotlight.
In order to pay tribute to Bugatti’s racing heritage there were created six Grand Sport Vitesse limited edition models and the first one is now ready to be revealed. Starting from next year it is going to appear the new special edition run which is called “Les Legendes de Bugatti” which is based on the Grand Sport Vitesse commemorating the most important six car makers that worked for Bugatti during their 104 years of existence.
The first hero that they decided to celebrate is Jean Pierre Wimille who is a French driver. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 while driving a Bugatti 57G. Two years later, in 1939, he managed to win the big prize again.
This time he was driving a 57C created by Pierre Veyron. His name is now extremely popular all over the world and he is known as the creator of some of the fastest cars on the planet.
They used the car that Wimille drove in 1937 as an inspiration for their new car and they have managed to create something really interesting and unique. The Wimille Edition is available with a blue clear coated carbon fiber and the paintwork is a blue one, a similar color that they used for the original car in 1937.
They tried to recreate the same style and century when it comes to the interior of the car, too and they used pale shades of blue combined with black accents in order to improve the car’s aspect.
The Bugatti Legend Jean Pierre Wimille is going to appear in three models and the first one will have its debut in California, at the Monterey Auto Week, which will take place next week. The car is going to have a very powerful engine, an 8.0 liter W16 one which is able to produce 1.184 hp.
The car is not only fast and good looking, but also safe. They added a lot of safety features such as airbags and warning systems that makes it even more interesting.
We can’t wait to see how the other 5 limited editions are going to look like and who are going to be the great personalities that they will decide to honor with such a nice gesture. Bugatti is an important and famous carmaker and they never disappointed their fans. We are sure that they are going to make a wonderful job this time too.
Bugatti is working on a grand finale before the Veyron replacement arrives and this grand finale is going to see the car’s top speed increased to 280 mph. Bugatti Veyron has announced that it is going to release a 1.500 horsepower car early next year.
Bugatti does not seem to hurry when it comes to get the model production ready but this may be a good thing, taking into consideration the fact that they have announced that this car is going to be “fantasy in terms of its performance”. After all, patience seems a good thing is you want to create a good quality product which can surprise everybody. One thing is for sure, loyal customers are extremely excited and they can’t wait to see what their favorite car producer has prepared for them.
Bugatti has announced that they are going to use some technology from the current ultimate Veyron and they are going to introduce more weight in order to save technologies, specifically carbon fiber. This way they are going to shave off around 440 lbs.
A significant power increase, over the previous car’s 1.184 hp is also expected. The W16 engine is capable of an output higher than 1.500 hp because its capacity has been increased. Apparently Bugatti does not have any intention of using an electric boost system. The top speed for the new car seems to be somewhere around 280 mph and the previous car’s top speed was 267.82 mph. This top speed is only possible if the necessary tire technology is available.
The price for the new Bugatti Veyron is going to be somewhere around $7.7 million. Taking into consideration the fact that you are going to receive a fast and exclusive car, this is not a huge price at all. If you are interested in adding extra features you will have to pay more, but in the end you will be able to say that you own the car of your dreams.
Until the end of the summer they should announce more about this car and if you are interested all you have to do is to continue reading news about this company’s products. The new Bugatti Veyron seems an incredible car and you should definitely take it into consideration if you plan to replace your old car in the close future. Elegance and refinement are definitely some characteristics that worth a lot of money.
I remember back when the Bugatti Veyron used to be available only with a black and red finish. There was no major hype surrounding it’s styling options, n’or did anyone question them too much. We were all blown away by the vehicle’s raw power so it didn’t even matter what paint job it was wearing. Everybody wanted the power first and the colors later. But as with all extraordinary things, the Veyron had to keep away from becoming dull.
Luckily, the brand saw an opportunity in creating unique versions of the supercar. With so many color configurations, no two need ever be the same. There was the Pur Sang, the Sang Noir, Sang Bleu, Sang d’Argent, Sang Blanc and so on, and now the list expanded with one more. It’s called the Blanc Noir (French for White Black), and it’s based on the Grand Sport roadster version. Currently on display at the O’Gara Coach Company in Beverly Hills, California, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Blanc Noir is, like the others that came before, a one-of-a-kind model decked out in Bianco Canopus and black. Special and unique, just like all the others.
The big difference here is that the brand has continually reinvented itself. It has always been the superstar in the room even though it got challenged many times before. And unlike many other superstars, it got to see itself become a legend instead of transforming into a terrible wreck.

If you have not heard of Jay Leno and his passion for cars you probably live in a cave or have been abducted by aliens who’ve released you just now. Jay’s garage or as Alladin’s cave, a place full of treasures. Here you will find both new cars and old cars and perhaps brand names which you have never heard. We will try in this article to stop on 5 models each interesting in its own way.
1918 Cadillac Type 57 Victoria
Although it is now a respectable old lady Cadillac Type 57 Victoria still has original paint and most interesting, has preserved the original wooden wheels. It may seem outdated now and devoid of all modern gadgets but remember that this little gem has occurred during the period when Woodrow Wilson was president and World War I had only begun for U.S a year earlier.
1928 Bugatti Type 37A
Yes, Bugatti, this is the same company that owns Veyron. As you can see, a company with tradition which from the beginning has produced fast and powerful cars. You might think that the past years have softened the car, but Bugatti Type 37A it is far from being tired. Held at the beginning by Pierre Veyron this car raced on tracks in its time and from what do we know still cope admirably at the present times. Surely not as safe and manageable like a car from today but certainly a sure way to make your heart beat faster while driving with a happy grin on your face.
1925 Doble Steamer
Yes a steam engine car. Completely disappeared from the streets now these cars were a model of ingenuity in their time. No lower than gasoline cars, the steam cars were capable of performing amazing sometimes. Producing 1,000 lb-ft of torque this 1925 Doble Steamer, received some improvements ( the most important was the steam condenser made from aerospace materials that can bear temperatures up to 6,000 degrees). Aerospace materials and classic cars. I love and hate the combination..
1954 Jaguar XK120
The kind of car that caused the spark of passion for Jay. A car for aristocrats or for the rich. A smash hit in its time, Jaguar XK120 received accessories and an image worthy of a spoiled prince. Even if it was not one of the most reliable cars, was certainly one of the most desirable. All you need: british accent, costume, fat bank account and of course a lady who loves vintage stuff. And that car of course. More than 50 years after its debut still remains popular within collectors world.
1938 Hispano-Suiza Dubonnet Xenia
One of the rarest cars on earth. Would be easier to find a diamond in the street than to see that car running the streets. Also one of the most expensive cars in the world. Just look at it and after that stop drolling. Hand-built coachwork by Jacques Saoutchik that car was the starship Enterprise of her time. Gorgeous design, fluid futuristic accents, the “Dubonnet suspension” for comfortable travels and above all, admiration from all who pass along. I don’t know what you would do, but If I had 10 Ferrari I would give them all for this car. Take my girlfriend, take my money, take my car, take my house and just let me have that car.
Bugatti has made a real tradition from unveiling exclusive versions of the Veyron each year. There aren’t many cars that could rival the luxury supercar and more to it, the French car manufacturer is really setting itself apart from the competition with each and every new design. Recently, Bugatti has presented its latest project, the Veyron Grand Sport. The supercar received a unique paint-job by French artist Bernar Venet thus becoming the “fastest artwork ever”, as Bugatti officials described it. (if you’re wondering, “fastest artwork ever” refers to the vehicle’s speed and not to that of the artist)
Bugatti commissioned the New York-based artist to create something special for this week’s Art Basel festival in Miami Beach and from the looks of it, nobody was disappointed. The French automaker selected Bernar Venet because of his different perspective and his previous experience on similar projects. The current approach includes applying mathematical and scientific formulae, used by Bugatti engineers in developing the Veyron, across the front fascia and the sides of the Grand Sport. The theme continues inside, with orange details across the door panels as well as rust-finish the dash and leather trim. Under the bonnet, the ride has the same W16 engine that outputs 1001 HP so there’s no use in going over the specs once again.
Speaking at Bugatti’s Grand Sport unveiling, Venet said: “a Bugatti is already a work of art in itself, one that transports both its beholder and its driver into new dimensions of reality.”
It seems like the mighty Veyron has been challenged quite a lot lately and some car models are really starting to catch up to its pace. With the distance between its competitors shortening each day, the French car-maker decided to raise the bar to a whole other level so nobody might steal the Veyron’s title.
A recent report by Automobile Magazine states that Bugatti will introduce an extreme version of the Veyron at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Dubbed the Veyron Super, the car will boast an upgraded 8.0- or 9.6-liter engine with over 1,600 HP – 1,177 kW at a touch of the pedal. This, combined with additional carbon fiber body parts, could enable the supercar to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 1.8 seconds reach a top speed of 463 km/h (288 mph). Even though the numbers sound like they might kill you, the magazine says they could very well become reality due to a 249 kg weight reduction over the SuperSport.
This means that the car would weigh around 1,600 kg (3,527 lbs) and have a power-to-weight ratio of one-to-one. There’s no news on the price tag but I’m pretty sure it will be over $2 million.

I’m curious how fast you can say “Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale Special Edition” without getting it wrong. I’ve tried a couple of times and my best time was about 2.6 seconds.
The vehicle in question here was presented at the Sao Paulo Motor Show and from the looks of it, someone in the French carmaker’s creation department is running out of ideas. Based on the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, the Rafale edition features a set of exclusive alloys and a two-tone exterior with “Gris Rafale” paint and blue carbon fiber. The interior has been fitted with lake blue leather seats, light grey stitching and blue carbon fiber trim.
Under that glossy blue paint, the Rafale has a the same quad-turbocharged 7.9-liter W16 engine that produces 1,200 HP – 882 kW and 1,500 Nm of torque. As the Sport Vitesse, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph). So you can’t even say its name right and you’ve already achieved take-off speed.
As a bonus, the special edition has a price tag of around $2,5 million which represents a $274,175 increase over the standard model. Way to go Bugatti! Keep up the good work!
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there lived a renowned automaker named Bugatti. He built the fastest, most luxurious and most expensive car of all time, the Veyron, which shortly became an icon for speed and luxury. The Veyron needed a bigger brother for those who thought the Bentley or the Rolls wasn’t good enough or too cheap, and that’s how, in 2009, the Galibier came along. The concept was absolutely staggering. It took luxury to a whole new level with its finesse and simplicity but then it disappeared from radar in the following years. Now, 3 years later, the CEO of Bugatti Wolfgang Dürheimer has revealed a few more details about the Galibier.
While interviewed by Car & Driver, Dürheimer mentioned that the model is currently under development and it could come into production in 2015. He also said that the Galibier will be “faster than anything on the market” and judging by the looks of it … I believe him. The vehicle in question here will probably have an engine similar to the Veyron’s but Car & Driver thinks the output will be closer to 1400 HP – 1044 kW.
Dürheimer winked, smiled and said that the car will have “innovative ideas that are a first in the automotive business as a whole.” I’m actually thrilled to hear that they haven’t dropped the Galibier idea and I’m looking forward on more info about this amazing car. Watch this space.
