Jaguar blows the cover on the 2013 F-Type
After weeks and weeks of teasing, Jaguar has finally unveiled the all-new F-Type and I have to say that it was worth the wait. Revealed in Paris at the Musée Rodin Museumin, the legendary E-Type’s successor is scheduled to go on sale in the United Kingdom no sooner than next year in May as a convertible, and a year and a half later as a coupe.
Customers will have the option of choosing between three versions of the Jag, the most powerfull of the three being the F-Type V8 S with its newly developed V8 engine. The car has 495 HP – 364 kW to quiet down the road spirits and a peak torque of 625 Nm. This is pretty much enough for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 4.2 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 300 km/h. The other two versions, the F-Type and the F-type S, will be powered by the same 3.0-liter V6, with different power outputs (340 HP – 250 kW for the first and 380 HP – 279 kW for the second). All three versions will have an 8-speed Quickshift transmission and the Dynamic Launch feature that will only be available for the F-Type S for the time being.
The vehicle is an amazing piece of work inspired by the CX-16 concept. It has been fitted with an all-aluminum double wishbone front and rear suspension and an active exhaust system that is offered as standard for the S and V8 S versions. As you might have seen from the presentation film, the Jag also has an active rear spoiler that deploys in order to reduce lift by up to 120 kg.
The european price tag for this awesome car starts around $95,000 for the base model and $130,000 for the V8 S. Check out more info on Jaguar’s official page below.
