When it comes to a little design controversy some people say that there is nothing wrong, while other ones consider that a perfect car is definitely a car that is appreciated by everybody and which is suitable for any tastes.
When Jeep brought back the Cherokee name and they used it for the vehicle that managed to replace the aging Liberty, we were definitely all thrilled and we were extremely impatient to see the final result. When we finally saw the production version we must admit that we had a huge surprise when it comes to its aspect and design.
Actually the controversial front end design is the one that managed to shock us and it is extremely disputed among car lovers. There are a lot of people that say that after looking at it for a while they started to love it, while other potential customers say that it is an ugly front end no matter how much you stare at it.
The designer of the car recently declared that such a radical change was definitely required in order to shock and to impress. He considers that Jeep has created some traditional cars for too long and it is time for this car maker to create something new, bold and nonconformist. This is why he decided to create this impressive car.
Greg Howell, Jeep lead designer, also declared that after Liberty and Patriot they needed a whole new design in order to ensure that they will be able to remain a powerful car maker with an important word to say when it comes to design.
He was definitely aware that the car is going to be a huge shock for many people but he did not have a choice. He could not build a smaller Grand Cherokee and call it a day. He had to do something stunning in order to impress younger customers and to make them love Jeep and its special vehicles.
The exterior of the car and also the interior are modern and ready to please even the youngest drivers. You can now enjoy a special Jeep no matter how old are you. It is no longer just a family car and you can easily buy it if you plan on impressing your friends. Such a vehicle is not only good looking but also very safe and you should choose it without fear.
Trademarked in 1937 the Mopar brand is nowadays part of the american cult for modified cars with lots of power, and bling bling. Last year Mopar celebrated its 75th anniversary with a myriad of models revealed and plans to do the same thing in 2013. It seems to be the ideal time to analyze 5 most appealing cars modified by MOPAR.
Seen for the first time in 2011 at Frankfurt Motor Show, will turn you into a pirate captain instantly. The only missing thing? The crossbones flag. Otherwise we have it all: front and rear off-road bumpers, tail lamp guards, rock rails, grab-handles with coat hook (nice), synthetic winch line, slush mats and tonneau covers for the rear cargo. A bad boy useful for expeditions in places where no one has gone before.
Dodge Charger “Redline”
Presented at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, seemed to be one of the Transformers and for a while I was convinced that it is so. Mopar added almost everything you could want: an aerodynamic carbon-fiber body kit with tri-coat paint, two-piece grille and a chin spoiler. A three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler for additional down force, a vinyl roof graphic in matte black, an serious infusion of performance parts and attitude. I love it ! Who said that earthlings can not have their own UFO’s ?
Jeep Compass “True North”
I do not know how it looks the Fake North but certainly know what I like at True North. Is it paint? It it the way it looks? Yup, here we have a true adventurer. 16-inch alloys and a 2-inch lift kit for more courage in rough terrain, matte black paint for the roof, wheel flares, grille and light surrounds and some gadgets inside. There you will find audio components from Kicker, pitch and roll inclinometer gauges, and balls for exploring the wilderness.
He will make an offer you can not refuse: 363hp 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, high-performance brake pads, a firmer suspension, Goodyear Eagle F1 rubbers, gloss black 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels, a machine gun in the trunk and impressions of Mafia. Dangerous aspect, you will feel a Soprano while driving. Blacked-out exterior, for more dangerous and chic appearance and a sudden need for money when you see it. If you see one you want one, I would say that they have done the job very well. Who needs a Batmobile? We have Chrysler 300. Batman? do not be jealous..
Will be displayed at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Gloss-black with a pair of car-length Mopar Blue stripes for exterior, 1.4-liter turbo MultiAir under the hood, front-chin spoiler, rear diffuser, one-piece deck-lid spoiler, 18-inch alloys and a lowered suspension. This car is probably expected by many. When you see it, you understand why. Has everything missing on European cars: masculine and dangerous appearance. Yes, we are men and elegance leaves us cold sometimes. We want bad cars looking poisonous and deadly. And this Dodge Dart seems to be one of the solutions. I think it would be the perfect car of a young Sith lord (hehe..).
The old Jeep Grand Cherokee isn’t old anymore. Jeep has recently introduced an impressive update for the Grand Cherokee SRT8. Set to take on some of it’s European competitors, the updated, high-performance SRT8 variant received a fresh new makeover as well as some performance tweaks. First off, the exterior of the ride features a revised front grille with LED day lights, LED headlamps and taillights, a restyled rear spoiler and a sporty rear bumper along with a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet, the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 boasts a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that generates the same 470 HP – 350 kW and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. In terms of performance, the SUV should be quicker than the outgoing version which did the 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph) sprint in five seconds and reached a top speed of 257 km/h (160mph). This is due to the new 8-speed, quick-shifting automatic transmission, the launch control feature as well as the tweaked Selec-Track system which sends more torque to the rear wheels (whilst Track Mode is turned on).
The interior of the ride looks freshened-up as Jeep opted for top-notch leather upholstery and other high-quality materials. Among some of the most eye-catching features we notice the new interactive dashboard, the carbon-fiber inserts and the huge central-console display. Nicely done Jeep!
The car tuners from Hennessey Performance are back in our attention with another uber fast project, a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 that might put supercars to shame with its incredible power. The newest generation of the Cherokee SRT8 was the base car for this project, dubbed as the HPE800 Twin Turbo.
First, the car’s already massive 6.4L Hemi engine had its displacement increased to 7L and received, as the name of the upgrade package suggests, a twin turbo forced induction system. That’s enough to take the power of this SUV to a massive 805 HP and 823 lb-ft of torque which will turn this Cherokee into an SUV Rocket.
We don’t know what’s the top speed it could reach, but we know that it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, faster than most supercars on the market right now. Apart from these engine upgrades, the car also received an upgraded transmission system, huge brakes from Brembo measuring 15.1″, a lowered sports suspension system and a carbon fiber front splitter to handle all that extra power.
The interior of the car was also refined by the Texas based tuner that could offer a custom leather treatment and a special sports steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara among other styling upgrades. The Hennessey Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 HPE800 is priced at $235,000 and it will be built in a limited run of just 24 units. Unfortunately we only have 1 photo of this beauty right now.
