New Citroen DS2 will come out in 2012

Citroen is planning to launch a new compact hatch in 2012, a car which was dubbed as DS2 and it will be the entry point in the company’s new DS range. The car’s design will be inspired from the Citroen Revolte concept which was premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show a couple of months ago but will feature a more conventional grille, larger headlights and a narrower track.

The new Citroen DS2 will come with the same rear-hinged doors that were also installed on the Revolte concept and other design elements are inspired from the legendary people’s car, the 2CV. The platform and engines that will be used for this new compact hatch will be borrowed from the new C3 to keep development costs low.

Citroen will also launch in the next years the DS3 in 2010 and the C4 and the C5-based DS4 and DS5 which will come in 2011.
