The demand for Japanese sports cars is extremely high nowadays. Possessing cutting-edge technology, impeccable style, and the potential to be tuned for more power, Japanese cars are a favorite for numerous sporting disciplines ranging from track meets to drifting. However, no matter how you ask, there’s no doubt that the Nissan Skyline GT-R is the definitive Japanese sports car. This article will take a quick look on the life and times of Japan’s supercar.
Nissan Skyline GT-R KPGC-10 (1970-1972)
This is the GT-R that started it all. Affectionately called the “Hako-suka”, this car is available in both 2-door and 4-door variants. This car comes equipped with the S20 engine, which was essentially the same engine used in the legendary R380. Boasting a DOHC design and hemispherical combustion chambers, this engine’s maximum output is measured at 160 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. It is the dominant force in Japanese motorsport in the early 1970s, at one time winning 50 straight Grand Prix races.
Nissan Skyline GT-R KPGC-110 (1973)
This car first hit the showrooms on September 1972 as the GT-R version of the next-generation Skyline. Still equipped with the S20 engine and coming with a host of mechanical improvements, this car was expected to carry on the GT-R’s dominance in the sports car scene. However, the 1973 World Oil Crisis doomed this car in terms of sales. The GT-R was cancelled in 1973, with only 197 cars ending up being produced. Each copy is now considered as a valuable collector’s item for car enthusiasts.
Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 (1989-1994)
For the first time in 16 years, the GT-R badge is back on the Nissan Skyline. Not intending to waste a legendary designation, they made the R32 GT-R one of the most advanced sports cars during its day. It was equipped with the legendary RB26DETT 2.6 liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine, the ATTESA-ETS full-time 4-wheel drive system, and the Super-HICAS 4-wheel steering system. During its run, the R32 dominated both Group A and Group N competitions in Japan, and it’s also remarkably competitive in international sports car competitions, earning it the nickname “Godzilla”.
Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 (1995-1998)
How can you improve on an already-spectacular car? This is the dilemma of the designers of the R33 GT-R. It kept the same engine, transmission, and 4-wheel drive system from the R32. While it weighed in heavier at 3400 pounds, it came with timely updates such as stronger transmission synchros, an improved pump drive collar, and a 4-wheel independent anti-lock braking system. The result is that this car was equally dominant on both road and track.
Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 (1999-2002)
The R34 was shorter and lighter compared to the R33. While it still came with the same engine and 4-wheel drive system as the R32 and R33 models, its level of sophistication is so high that it was the most competitive GT-R of them all. It had better aerodynamics, a 6-speed manual transmission, and updated drivetrain settings. This car has a dominant presence in the Japan GT Championship, as well as other competitions outside Japan. When the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R stopped production in 2002, the Skyline and GT-R marques were officially separated.
A contemporary car like the NISMO 370 Z is the answer to serious drivers’ need for speed and power. This type of car has evolved through the years. The 2014 model is fitted with the 3.7-liter V6 engine that makes 350 horsepower. It is lighter and more agile, and offers efficient performance and gas mileage.
Then and now, the Nismo 370 Z is racing-inspired but is suited for day-to-day driving. Car industry experts have noted that the thirsty V-6 engine may deter buyers who want to drive the mean machine daily. On the other hand, fitting the vehicle with a more economical four-cylinder engine may not deliver the performance that supports the Z-car image.
Whatever pundits say, though, the Nismo 370 Z clearly stands out, beginning with its sleek styling and aerodynamic shape. The car does not come across as your everyday sports car. Instead, the whole package conveys a functional yet emotive car with elegant exteriors and well-appointed interiors.
Ensuring a safe and comfortable drive is a bevy of features, automatic climate control and the Nissan Intelligent Key. Just about every option in a contemporary fast car comes standard on the Nismo, and that includes satnav. The Nismo has ample room and a cabin with trimmings that don’t deviate from the standard 370 model. The rear fender seats, as motorists have noticed, have aesthetic appeal.
Observant motorists will notice that the Nismo 370 Z’s bodywork has been restyled — large exhaust drums, lower ride height, and overall tasteful execution. Beyond that, the Nismo offers a firm and smooth ride, though it doesn’t really stand out from Nissan’s more affordable car models. It’s a great option, nonetheless, for Z-car devotees.
Compared to the multifunctional supercar which is the GT-R that has given Nissan an image boost, the Z looks smoother.
It’s when you hit the road that you’ll realize just how much time Nissan allotted for car refinements, all of which fetch a high price tag.
If you’ve purchased a 2013 Nismo 370 Z, you’d find standard safety features that include side airbags, antilock brakes, and sport-tuned suspension offering superb handling. Some motorists have noted, though, that there’s an unrelenting noise when the car is utilized for road trips.
The NISMO 370 Z silver option is what car buyers can get at the list price. It looks pretty elegant. The sports car comes in other appealing shades, though, including pearl white, black, and platinum graphite. Other attractive colors like the midnight blue and magma red also look stunning as exterior colors of the Nismo.
For music-loving motorists, the NISMO enthralls with its Bose audio package with a pair of speakers and subwoofers.
It’s interesting to note that the 370 Z back in 2002 reaped considerable success in the US, Asia, and some countries in Europe. Nissan is pinning hopes that the 2015 model will have powerful impact. Question is, does the Nismo ever really hit the spot as a sweet street car? Or will it be punishing for the car to traverse the city’s bumpy roads and potholes?
Over the years Japanese car makers have produced some pretty amazing sport cars. Ones of the most popular ones are definitely, Nissan Z, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Subaru BRZ and even Scion FR-S. When it comes to supercars though, we have to admit that the Japanese market is pretty poor and that it is difficult to find something truly noticeable. But there have been some supercars that managed to impress us.
1. Nissan GT-R
It has a very affordable price compared to other Japanese supercars and it is a very impressive vehicle. At the beginning it appeared as a version of the Skyline Nissan and it was able to produce 480 horsepower. After that it was separated into its own model, in 2007 and it can now produce 545 horsepower which come from a 3.8 liter twin turbo V6 engine. It can easily reach 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and its top speed is somewhere around 190 mph.
2. Acura NSX
Acura is definitely an exotic car, but also a very powerful one. It has a rear drive layout, mid-engine and a special aspect that makes it really interesting. Even if it has a 3.0 liter V6 engine and it can produce 280 horsepower this does not mean that it is not a supercar. It was produced from 1990 to 2005 and according to recent news they plan on building a new hybrid NSX in the next few years.
3. Lexus LFA
This car has a 4.8 liter V10 engine and it is definitely easy to notice because of its aggressive styling. It costs $375.000 but it worth every cent. It is made of carbon fiber and it can produce up to 552 horsepower. In can go from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds and it has a top speed of 202 mph. We can say that it is the fastest Japanese supercar. Apparently a roadster version may appear in the future years.
4. Nissan R390
This vehicle was designed by Nissan in order to compete at Le Mans in the late 1990s. Thanks to homologation requirements, Nissan built 2 cars, one of them residing in Nissan’s archives. The car has a 3.5 liter twin turbo V8 and it can produce 550 horsepower. Not to mention it goes from 0 to 60 in only 3.8 seconds and it can reach a 196 mph top speed. Isn’t it spectacular?
5. Mitsuoka Orochi
The only moment when this car was presented by someone, in public, was when James May drove it when Top Gear visited Japan. It first appeared in 2001 and it was produced until 2006. It comes with a 3.3 liter V6, can produce 230 horsepower and it has a five speed automatic. The car costs about 10 million yen and it is definitely an exotic one.
If you want an amazing truck or a two door sport car then you should check LA and Tokyo because lately, here were produced the best cars.
Last week in Los Angeles and Tokyo there were two spectacular auto shows, where a lot of concept and production cars were revealed. Some of them were even more impressive and we used them in order to create our top 5 of the most interesting production cars. We took into consideration their design, features and overall unique factor.
1. Chevrolet Colorado
Chevrolet crated a midsize pickup truck which looks amazing from every angle and it is also extremely well equipped. You can configure it according to your needs and preferences and you will enjoy the truck of your dreams. Apparently Chevrolet plans on creating an off road version which is going to have a six speed manual.
2. Porsche Macan
This is definitely a very expected car and it looks almost like Cayenne, only the size differs, Macan being smaller. It is an excellent car because it has an affordable price and it offers solid performance. It also has some off road capabilities that Porsche is very proud about.
3. Nissan GT-R Nismo
Nissan created a very powerful car. It has more than 591 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque due to its 3.8 liter twin turbo V6. We have to say that it sounds extremely impressive and we cannot wait to drive such a monster on the roads very soon.
4. Jaguar F-Type Coupe
This is an improved version of its predecessor, an amazing roadster. One thing is for sure, the new model looks even better and it can impress even the most demanding drivers. Jaguar usually produces elegant cars and they did not disappoint us this time either. The engine is as powerful as its roadster counterpart and we have to admit that we find this car as being perfect.
5. Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition
Unfortunately Mercedes plans on dropping the SLS AMG GT coupe after this year. When it comes to this final edition we have to announce that only 350 units will be made and it is simply amazing when you analyze its design. It is made of carbon fiber, it has impressive new vent design and unique allow wheels. The engine is a 6.2 liter one and it can produce 583 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.
If you want to enjoy the new Nissan GT-R then all you have to do is to wait and your dream will come true.
There were a lot of rumors when it comes to the aspect and the features of the new Nissan GT-R. Some people claimed that it is going to have a hybrid setup while other ones said that it is going to be a pure EV. No matter what you think or what you want, one thing is for sure: the answer to all your questions is going to be known in 2016 when this amazing car is going to be released.
Recently, a Nissan representative confirmed that their next supercar will appear in 3 years from now and people all over the world were definitely surprised because nobody expected this car until 2017. The carmaker is going to release very soon their Nismo GT-R which is definitely a more powerful track tuned beast that is perfect if you want to say a final goodbye to the R35.
The representative did not want to ruin the surprise and he did not divulge any details when it comes to the new GT-R but we are almost sure that it is going to be a hybrid car or that at least it is going to have some hybrid technology in order to keep up with current tendencies when it comes to cars.
The new Acura NSX is going to have its debut very soon and it will feature a hybrid all wheel drive system. The GT-R is going to have an all wheel drive too and we are definitely anxious to see this supercar matchup.
Nissan is an amazing carmaker and the majority of its customers are definitely pleased by the quality of their products. Japanese cars are usually some of the best cars in the world and Nissan has a certain reputation that needs to be protected.
This is only a small reason for us to think that they are going to create something extremely bold and impressive in order not to disappoint their loyal customers and to ensure that the car is going to bring them a lot of profit. 2016 seems a very far time if we take into consideration the fact that we need to wait until then to see this amazing car in showrooms. If you really want to buy it then you can be sure that it is going to worth waiting for it.
Consumers who are shopping for compact pickup trucks have very few options to choose from these days. With the exit of the Dodge Dakota and Ford Ranger trucks the only real compact models left to choose from are Toyota’s Tacoma and Nissan’s Frontier.
Both vehicles are really more mid-size in form factor than they are compact. However, they are the best small-truck alternatives to the full-size trucks that are currently offered as standard entry-level models by most major manufactures.
On the surface at least, the Frontier and the Tacoma appear identical in several respects. Both offer a standard inline four-cylinder engine and an available V6 powertrain option. Both models are available in 2WD and 4WD short and long-bed models and weigh between 3,500 and 4,500 pounds. Under the hood, the Frontier’s 2.5 liter four cylinder engine generates a respectable 152 horsepower and 171 pounds per feet of torque, while the Tacoma’s four cylinder delivers a totally comparable 159 hp and 180 lb/ft of torque.
The V6 engines on both vehicles come in at 4.0 liters. Both vehicles have remarkably similar pricing as well. A Frontier 4×2 Crew Cab with a Premium package has a sticker price of around $28,000 while a comparable Tacoma PreRunner 4×2 costs just over $27,000.
The similarities stop there however. In overall head-to-head comparisons between the two vehicles, several differences become apparent very quickly. For instance, though the V6 engines on both models are 4.0 liters in size, the Frontier’s engine generates 261 horsepower and 281 pounds per square feet of torque, compared to just 236 hp and 266 lb/ft of torque with the Tacoma’s engine.
Not surprisingly, the Frontier has the better acceleration of the two vehicles and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, compared to 7.2 seconds with the Tacoma. The Frontier’s six-cylinder version is also capable of towing or trailering a much higher maximum payload of 11,133 pounds, compared to 8,100 pounds with the Tacoma.
The Nissan Frontier does not have a regular cab for passengers like the Toyota Tacoma does. However, it offers a more naturally designed front seating configuration and a more comfortable backbench than the Tacoma. The Frontier’s interior is reasonably well designed and comfortable, with most controls being easily readable and reachable. Still, many features that are available as standard on other vehicles, including some audio equipment, are only available as options on the Frontier.
The Tacoma’s interior, meanwhile, offers many of the same features found in the company’s Camry passenger car, though customers have to spring for a higher-end Double Cab model if they want amenities such as a decent audio system.
The Frontier’s exterior design is derived from other Nissan trucks and SUVs. In keeping with its status as a pickup truck, the Frontier’s exterior design presents a blend of contemporary style and aggressiveness. Yet, it looks somewhat cutesy in comparison to the toughness and worker-bee vibes generated by the Tacoma’s exterior design.
Both vehicles offer reasonable bang for the buck at least as far as entry-level trucks are concerned. From a resale value standpoint, the Tacoma, like all Toyota vehicles offers slightly more value for the money than the Frontier. If you’re buying a Tacoma or Frontier located out of state, car transport services provide quick and easy vehicle shipping in covered and uncovered trucks. The 2014 Nissan 370Z Nismo is a fresh and special car and its new exterior and interior accents make it a modern and stylish car, extremely suitable for bold and interesting people.
It was unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show and it has been introduced ahead of its summer release. The hardcore Z received some design improvements in line with the new Nismo design, a very special theme which was first seen on the Juke Nismo. If you are a fan of Z cars then you will be able to admire the two door sports car with an amazing grey coloring on the front and rear fascias, lower side sills, rear spoiler and even side mirrors, but also the red pinstripe accents that look so modern on the side sills.
Instead of Magma Red they used Solid Red in order to personalize the exterior and to make it look even more impressive. There were some important changes when it comes to the interior as well: they added a new Alcantara but also red accented steering wheel, not to forget about the red Nismo tachometer. The car was also improved with an extended front nose design using an integrated chin spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics.
When it comes to the engine specification we must mention the 3.7 liter V6 engine rated at 350 horsepower but we must also remember the 276 pound feet of torque which makes the rear 5 spoke 19 inches RAYS alloys to function perfectly and easy to control using a close ration 6-speed manual.
The price was not announced yet but you should be prepared to pay a considerable amount of money for such a car.
The good thing is that it worth every cent, especially if you want to prove once again that you have fine tastes and a lot of spirit of adventure. A car can totally change your life, not to mention it represents you and your personality. You should choose it with a lot of attention and you should do your best to find out what you need and what you can afford in order to know if the new Nissan is your dream car or not.
If you need more information you can find them online, on their website or you can even visit one of their shops in order to ask for more details. Until the car is going to be released you have plenty of time to decide what to do.
Nissan has announced its plans to develop a competitor for the Volkswagen Golf. Notably, the Japanese automaker is ready to invest more than €130 ($175 / £111) million into their production facility in Barcelona, Spain.
Part of the investment will be used to increase production of the Navara (aka Frontier) as well as for building transmissions for the Leaf / eNV200. The rest will be directed into the assembly of a “new passenger car” which is expected to compete with the Volkswagen Golf. Nissan officials have added that the aforementioned model will go into production in July 2014 and it will have a targeted output of around 80,000 units annually.
There’s not too much info about this mysterious upcoming model, but it is expected to be a C-segment hatchback inspired from the Invitation concept. The vehicle will most likely feature state of the art technology and will be motivated by 1.2- and 1.5-liter engines.

More and more companies have taken to spec racing, with everyone from Lamborghini to Opel hosting their own modified versions. Recently, Nissan has presented their own racing version of the 370Z, and what a car it is. Also known as the Nissan 370Z Nismo Z-Challenge Spec, the series will allow aspiring racers and amateur enthusiasts to compete against each other in identical machinery. The final version of the ride is expected to be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon next month, and from the looks of it, it should turn out to be similar to the existing 370Z Nismo RC.
As a reminder, the latter packs the same 3.7-liter V6 as the roadgoing model, but modified to Nismo spec at 350 HP. The vehicle has also been fitted with other competition-grade enhancements like brakes, suspension and more. Although the Nismo series is sure to be more affordable than something like the Maserati Trofeo or Bentley’s upcoming Continental GT3 series, Nissan’s 370Z RC already has a price tag of around $164k, and the cost of participation for one season is sure to boost the bottom line even further.
Last month, Nissan has released a couple of details about the upcoming GT-R and recently the Japanese carmaker is at it again with a series of revisions to its 2014 GT-R model.
Firstly, the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine that generates 542 HP – 405 kW has been fitted with new high-output injectors that improve mid- and high-rpm response. The turbocharger has a new relief valve for suppressing the rapid decrease of forced injection pressure which should improve response. The upcoming Nissan GT-R will also feature a new oil pan baffle designed to maintain pressure and lower friction as well as an updated suspension, with revisions to dampers, springs and front anti-roll bar. Also, camber accuracy and stability during cornering has been improved thanks to new cam bolts on the front suspension.
The revised Nissan GT-R is will arrive in dealershops next spring.
