The Opel Corsa 2014 is a supermini from Opel, the German automaker. A model targeted for those with a low budget or small families, it is currently on its fourth generation, the D series. Though highly popular in Europe and the rest of the world, it has never been sold in either the US or Canda.
The new 2014 model has undergone a couple of changes cosmetically in order to update this car model that has been around for the past seven years. Most of the updates that the Corsa has undergone are in the interior rather than the exterior, but that doesn’t mean that the exterior hasn’t changed noticeably.
The newest Corsa’s front features a new grille, redesigned headlights, and an upgraded bumper. The new low-set front grille has a split in the middle featuring the chromed Opel logo. The updates have obviously taken its cue from the Corsa’s smaller brother, the Adam. The back of the Opel Corsa 2014 has been left unchanged, though.
The interior, however, has been given a total overhaul. A brand new speedometer with a clean, minimalist style has been put in this car. The dials are backlit in white that make the speed and revolutions per minute easy to read. Fuel level and engine temperature can be found at the top, with the dashboard featuring some new soft touch button. There is also a TFT screen added to the center of the dashboard. The Opel Corsa 2014 has also acquired a new steering wheel that fits comfortably in the hands and is easily operated, with the expected control buttons.
The center stack has also undergone changes and features a new layout for the radio and all the other controls that can be found there. The sound system has also been updated, offering good quality sound even when playing mp3s.
The interior is expected to be spacious and there is ample room for five, though featuring a diminished boot space. However, the rear seats can be folded down for more space to carry items in if needed.
The Opel Corsa 2014 will also be adding at least one new engine, the 1.0-liter SIDI turbocharged three-cylinder, to its engine range. Some other tweaks are expected for the engine that could improve fuel economy and reduce carbon emission.
The latest Corsa is expected to debut at either the Geneva Motor Show in March or the Frankfurt Motor Show in the fall.
Opel/Vauxhall has been playing around with a convertible at the beginning of last month. Some of the first rumors about this car said something about a convertible Astra version, but lately the German carmaker dismissed that info by presenting a new mid-size convertible called the Cascada.
With a length of 4697mm and a width of 1840mm, the four-seater cabrio is a mixture of elements from the Astra and the Insignia. Compared to the previous Astra Twin Top, this entirely different soft top takes around 17 seconds to operate, at speeds of up to 50km/h. Also it’s going to be the cheapest model in this segment with a price tag of around $40,000.
While the new Cascada will be available with a new range of wheels from 18 to 20 inches, it will also feature the HiPer strut front suspension and compound crank beam axle design that has been taken from the Insignia VXR. Furthermore, the braking power will be provided by 326mm front brake discs and 325mm rear ones and customers can also opt for the FlexRide adaptive chassis technology that comes with three driving modes.
Under the bonnet the cabrio received a brand new 1.6-liter SIDI ECOTEC turbocharged gasoline engine that outputs 168 HP – 125 kW and 279 Nm of torque. Chances are that in the future we might see a more powerful variant of this engine with 197 HP – 147 kW as well as a lower output version with 148 HP – 110 kW. For the moment, this engine will come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
However, the engine range doesn’t stop here, as Opel/Vauxhall also offers a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline that otuputs 138 HP – 103 kW and 219 Nm, followed by a 2.0-liter CDTi with 163 HP – 121 kW and 379 Nm of torque and a possible 2.0-liter BiTurbo diesel that produces 192 HP – 143 kW and 220 Nm.
Opel has officially released a couple of images and info about the mini ADAM concept. They describe the model as being their first fashionable urban car. The retro-styled ADAM will take on rivals such as the Fiat 500, The Mini so the pressure is on for the little Opel. The 2013 Opel ADAM will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September and it will arrive in showrooms in January 2013.
It measures 3.7 meters in length and 1.72 meters width making it slightly larger than the Fiat 500, but similar to the MINI hatch. It has enough room for four people and officials even promise that those four people won’t hang on to their kneecaps in the backseats.
The ADAM is highly customizable and each customer can pick out of three retro-named trim levels: JAM – which stands for a fashionable and colorful trim, GLAM means elegant, refined and sophisticated and SLAM goes for energetic and sporty.
Under the bonnet we find ourselves trapped between three different powertrain options. All of them are connected to a five-speed manual transmission and include the ecoFLEX technology pack that boasts fuel-saving Start/Stop technology. Yey ! The smallest engine is the 1.2 liter, 70HP, 51kW petrol unit, and the 1.4 liter unit will be offered at two power outputs: 87HP – 64kW and 100HP – 74kW.
Rumors say that the ADAM will also benefit from a new generation turbocharged unit at some point in the future and it will come with a brand new six-speed manual transmission system. Gosh, that sounds good…
It was just a matter of time until the folks back at Opel grabbed a pencil and paper an drew the Astra a new bottom. They described the mod as a balanced proportion and furthermore, an important part of their product offensive. The Astra sedan will play a leading role in substantially increasing Opel’s market share in key growth markets such as Russia and Turkey, where there is strong customer demand for compact cars with a separate luggage compartment.
The stylish, more affordable alternative to many four-door sedans in the mid-size segment, Astra will be available for purchase in Germany starting from June, and the customers will be able to choose from a range of seven engines for the car.
Out of these seven engines, four of them will be petrols and will vary from 100 HP to 180 HP, and three will be diesels with outputs between 95 HP and 130 HP.
Among these seven there are also the 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX with either 110 HP (81 kW) or 130 HP (96 kW) and from 2013 the automaker will also add the 1.6-litre SIDI ECOTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging and spark ignition direct injection but the output level for this one is unknown at this point.
Start/Stop technology and other efficiency enhancing features, will lower consumption figures to a stunning 3.7 litres per 100 Km and a CO2 emission level of 99 g/Km.
The 2013 Opel Astra sedan measures 4,658 mm in length, 1,814 mm in width and 1,476 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,685 mm and its trunk holds 90 litres more than the 5-door variant, adding up to a total of 460-litres worth of volume, or 1,010 litres with the rear bench flat.
Opel/Vauxhall has released a couple of photos with their yet unnamed 2 Seater Electric Car concept, that’s going to be premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week. The concept’s design is intended to revolutionize urban transport with a unique shape that looks like a sort of aerodynamic insect on wheels.
The car will be powered by a battery pack that’s expected to offer a driving range of around 60 miles. According to the company’s press release, despite the car’s futuristic look, the new 2 seater EV from Opel will be practical and will have a high production potential as well.
The car’s build will be pretty cheap and Opel announced that its price would be relatively small for an EV that will make it appeal to young drivers who look for something cool even though they’re on a tight budget. Its exotic design still makes me think that this car would be a lot more appropriate for a car hire cyprus when you’re in a vacation in a small city where you want to enjoy the surroundings a lot more than driving.
The new EV Concept from Opel is still expected to reach a top speed of 75 mph thanks to its light weight body. We’ll probably hear a lot more details about this new interesting concept in the upcoming days at Frankfurt.
Opel tuning specialists from Irmscher have revealed their newest project: an upgrade package for the new Opel Astra GTC featuring both styling and performance upgrades. First, the car received a more aggressive look thanks to a new full aerodynamics package which includes a front spoiler with lip, roof spoiler and a rear diffuser featuring a new elliptical quad exhaust.

Under the hood, engineers from Irmscher managed to upgrade the car’s ECU and, thanks to the new exhaust and other small tweaks, they’ve managed to increase the power output of the 1.6L turbocharged engine from 177 bhp to 217 bhp and 274 Nm of torque.
Opel has unveiled today the new Opel GTC Paris concept which, as its name states, will have its official premiere at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September. The concept represents a curvier and more modern Insignia since it features the same signature blade and the typical centerline crease in the front of the car.
The designers of the Opel GTC Paris concept declared they tried to minimize the car’s number of lines and the result is a vehicle that seems like it was modeled by the wind. Apart from the curvier body lines, the GTC concept also comes with modern LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights which will be surely appreciated by many fans.
The car will be powered by a 2.0L Turbo direct injection engine which develops “maximum horsepower and torque” as Opel said in their official press release. We don’t have any official figures yet but we’ll probably get exact performance figures in Paris later this month.
Opel GTC Paris will also come with the company’s latest start and stop system and other technologies designed to optimise the fuel consumption.

The finishing exterior touch was installing a new set of Star Turbo and Turbo Star Exclusive wheels that could be ordered in 18′ or 20″ which are wrapped in high performance tires.
Engineers from Irmscher also tweaked the 1.6L engine from the new Astra that initially had 181 HP and 230 Nm of torque. After a couple of tweaks they managed to add some extra power taking it to 200 HP and 295 Nm. Inside, the car tuners installed sport seats and gave the interior a leather trim.

For the car’s exterior Steinmetz also offers designer strips in silver and anthracite that will go on the car’s sides and door handle plates in polished stainless steel. The sportier visual look is further enhanced by a suspension lowering system that brings the car closer to the ground by 30 mm.
The Steinmetz Opel Astra J could be ordered with two stylish alloy wheel sets: an ST10 or ST7, both of them sized 8,5Jx19″. These special wheels will be wrapped in 235/35/R19 tires that could be either Continental or Michelin.
