Four years after the initial release of the Peugeot 508 in 2010, the French car brand’s large family car expected to undergo some redesigns this year, leading to the Peugeot 508 2014. The changes are expected to be mostly cosmetic, but can be seen as an attempt to update and make more relevant this model.
Exterior updates are expected to be an exchange of the headlights for something more like the style found on the 308. There are also going to be some additional chrome details to be added around the headlights and the grill. An upgraded bumper can also be expected in this latest iteration.
The interior is not expected to have any updating done other than some improvement to the trim. It will stay more or less the same as the last version of the 508.
Under the hood is a different matter. The Peugeot 508 2014 is expected to have the Peugeot’s BlueHDi diesel engine added to its roster of engines. This new engine will likely have the 508 offering lower carbon emissions, possibly somewhere below the 100g/km carbon emissions line, and a further increase in fuel economy.
Another aspect that will be featured in this update are new alloy wheels, some new colors, a more extensive range of equipment and personalization, and improved safety.
The new versions of Peugeot’s other lines like the Peugeot 5008 has had nine new color options added to them, something similar may be in line for the 508. Sound systems have also been redesigned and it can probably be expected to appear in the improved 508 too.
Other than that, expect to see the latest update on the 508 to be the same as you’d expect from this class. It will still be big and fairly conventional in terms of the mechanical aspects. The body will still be steel monocoque, with a front-wheel drive. The 508 is expected to still have that sophisticated and mature appearance both for the exterior and the interior.
Controls on the 508 are fairly straightforward and there will probably be no changes in the 2014 facelift. Given that the 508 has some spacious legroom, there should be no reason no to expect this of the update.
There were some aspects of the 508 that left some users wanting; the planned changes to the 508 may address some of these issues.
The new Peugeot 508 2014 is expected to go on sale sometime in July 2014.
Every man in the world knows that cars are one of the best chick magnets on the planet. Cars are generally considered as an embodiment of a person’s social status, which simply means that more luxurious cars are owned by rich people. Girls are usually attracted to these luxurious cars not because of the vehicle itself but rather because of the wealth or popularity of the person driving them. This idea is oftentimes regarded as a misconception although studies prove otherwise. This is only one of the many ideas that link girls and cars. Here is a list of more ideas that bridge the gap between girls and cars.
Cars are an Embodiment of a Woman’s Beauty
This idea stems from the fact that gorgeous vehicles are always accompanied by gorgeous women during presentations and motor shows. Women generally like the things that they see as embodiments of their beauty. Such things include jewellery, accessories, and similar items. In the modern world, vehicles are considered to be one of these items because cars are continuously being made more elegant, beautiful, and streamlined. These qualities are actually defining qualities for women, especially for those who value physical characteristics above anything else.
The Curves of a Woman Are Comparable to the Curves of a Car
This idea is not entirely about girls and cars since it also involves men. This idea is based on the fact that some men prefer the company of their vehicles more than the company of women. These men are usually part of a group of people who customize vehicles and as such are able to discern the value of a vehicle simply by looking at it. These men appreciate the beauty and elegance of vehicles, especially when they are the ones who performed the customization. They grow attached to the cars leading to this idea that the assets of women can be seen in vehicles. This, however, does not mean that these men refuse companionship.
Girls Are Attracted to the Power and Agility of a Car
The raw power of vehicles seemingly attracts women by the dozens. This is most commonly seen in sports cars and supercars that have a powerful engine. Women are attracted to the power of these vehicles mainly because women prefer people and objects that are more dominant. A good example would be a tuned up sports car that could outrun a supercar. More women would prefer to ride in the tuned up sports car because of its raw power and agility.
The ideas that are listed in this article are only three of over a hundred ideas that link girls and cars. Many of these ideas about girls and cars are based only on speculation since there is no scientific evidence that seems to prove them. Nevertheless, they are prevalent in societies and have even become the mind-set of teenagers in some countries. These ideas are oftentimes used by teenagers to attract their chosen counterparts and, more often than not, they seem to be successful in doing so.
The costs involved with car ownership are endless – insurance, petrol, road tax, MOTs… not to mention spiralling parking charges. That’s before you’ve even considered the none-too-small issue of keeping your vehicle in roadworthy condition. This is Money offers car-owners and those about to jump into the market a calculator that will help you determine the true cost of running a car in the UK, warning readers, “there’s plenty more than just the fuel to consider.” Of course, safety is paramount when dealing with motoring matters – something it’s imperative to bear in mind when considering saving money. You need to assess how and where to safely cut costs without cutting corners. The Reader’s Digest places driving technique as uppermost in their top tips to extend the life of your car. Keeping your speed under 55 mph, avoiding heavy loads, refraining from idling where possible and keeping revs low is advice they suggest when you’re breaking in a new car. They say that driving your car with consideration “shouldn’t stop after the break-in. Drive with care every day and your car will reward you with longer intervals without repair.” So along with driving with care, here are some other ways you can look after your car and your budget at the same time.
The AA says, “of all the seasons, winter requires the most care and preparation if you’re to stay safe and avoid a breakdown.” They reveal that “the number of breakdowns nearly doubles during particularly cold spells – and road conditions can be really challenging, particularly when snow and ice strike.” Antifreeze from petrol stations and motoring shops can be ridiculously overpriced, and is used up quickly in the winter months. Keep an eye out for better deals off-season in retailers like Wilkinson, and also visit pound stores which have a regular supply, along with a wide range of other motoring essentials.
You can effectively minimise frost settling on the windscreen by laying dry fabric – or even newspaper – over the screen overnight. If you get stuck, don’t attempt to aggressively dislodge the vehicle or gun the engine – gentle rocking is better, as the former approach will lead to problems for transmissions.
A set of brand-new tyres can require an inflated budget. It’s imperative that car tyres retain a decent tread (a depth of 1.6mm) for your (and other road-users’) safety – so don’t delay on replacing. Part-used tyres from a trusted, reputable seller can be over fifty percent cheaper than their new counterparts.
Front and rear tyres wear differently and should be rotated – check your owner’s manual for recommended intervals. Simply ensuring tyres are inflated to the correct pressure can be a free way to make sure your car and you stay safe. Kwik Fit say under-inflated tyres “can overheat; and over inflated tyres can lead to poor vehicle handling on the road.” They also state that “over or under inflated tyres suffer more damage than those with the correct pressure and need to be replaced more regularly.” The final reason they believe you should ensure the correct pressure on your tyres is that it will “help to maintain optimum fuel efficiency.” The best thing is you can check this for free and top up your air and water, at most petrol stations.
Look after your windscreen wipers. Don’t attempt to turn them on when they’re stuck to the screen with ice or weighed down by snow, as the rubber is easily damaged. You can clean the rubbers by using wet wipes to rid them of accumulated grime. Clean the glasswork using vinegar and old newspaper in place of pricey glass cleaners. If you get a chip, Autoglass will repair for free provided you are fully-comp.
Windscreen washer valves often become blocked with a build-up of limescale, which you can clear using a correctly-sized pin or needle. Expensive screenwash is not a necessity – instead, water with a small amount of added detergent works as a good alternative.
Avoid overpriced oil
Check your oil regularly and top-up as necessary. Unless you are running a very high-performance vehicle, there’s nothing to be gained by purchasing top-range oils promising ‘enhanced performance’. Synthetic oils are far better budget buys, doing the same job at a fraction of the price.
If a tanker is discharging fuel at the petrol station, go elsewhere. The turbulence caused by the fuel filling the tanks can stir up sediment which may well end up in your petrol tank. Fuel injectors and fuel filters can be affected by the ‘dirty fuel’, causing poor performance. Keep an eye on fuel consumption, as a marked change with no obvious cause can indicate a problem.
Make sure your petrol cap fits tightly, as a loose cap is said to be the most common trigger for your car’s on-board diagnostics system, causing the ‘check engine’ light to illuminate.
Bits and bobs
Although many modern batteries are low-maintenance, they still need to be inspected and topped up with de-ionised water as necessary. Air filters easily become clogged which will have a negative impact on fuel consumption, so check and replace as necessary. Use a silicone-based rubber protector on door and window seals to preserve their life and preserve the rubber.
If you’re not using your car for a while (generally over a month), take some time to store it properly to minimise damage during inactivity. To avoid corrosion, take off the parking brake. A full fuel tank stops condensation building in the tank, and a thorough wash-and-wax will preserve bodywork. Plug the exhaust pipe with a rag to eliminate moisture from the air, and remove the battery, or you may find it’s drained when you go to run the engine again.

The French automaker, Peugeot has just released a station wagon version of the new 308 hatchback – it is called the Peugeot 308SW. The new station wagon has also undergone quite a redesign, becoming much lighter and with an increase in spaciousness. It has dimensions that are longer than the hatchback’s by around 30cm, but most of the design is patterned after the hatchback’s.
There are a number of options in the station wagon’s engine range. These include a 2-liter BlueHDi that has 148bhp and also a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that has up to 128bhp. The 1.6-liter BlueHDi turbodiessel variant is said to have carbon emissions of only 85g/km.
The Peugeot 308SW is being offered by Peugeot as a car with some serious real estate in its boot. The brand’s claim is that the 308SW has a 610-liter load bay, and that’s with all five seats in place. The rear seats can also be folded completely flat, with the pull of one lever in the boot, which would add more space for loading.
The new EMP2, or Efficient Modular Platform, that is co-developed by Peugeot and Citreon could really help in making the most of the space in the back. The EMP2 is said to optimize weight and enhance dynamic efficiency in the Peugeot 308SW. The new architecture is able to remove a total of 140kg from the weight compared to the old 308 model. This means a more space-efficient interior and more liters behind the tailgate.
Two-way steering adjustments and front seats that can be adjusted for height are both offered in this car. The rear pillars can, however, block the view when going through angled junctions. The dashboard is minimalist and a touchscreen, identical to the hatchback version. The steering wheel has a small diameter, so opinions about that may be divided. The interior is high quality, with a sleek design that is clean and not distracting.
Most models are expected to have a 9.7-inch color touchscreen in the center stack, which can handle control of most major functions. Some options are considered upgrades, but even the basic model is pretty well equipped. LED rear lights and running light, cruise control, Bluetooth, and air conditioning are all standard features in this car.
Expect the Peugeot 308SW to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and, come spring, for it to be for sale all across Europe.
The Opel Corsa 2014 is a supermini from Opel, the German automaker. A model targeted for those with a low budget or small families, it is currently on its fourth generation, the D series. Though highly popular in Europe and the rest of the world, it has never been sold in either the US or Canda.
The new 2014 model has undergone a couple of changes cosmetically in order to update this car model that has been around for the past seven years. Most of the updates that the Corsa has undergone are in the interior rather than the exterior, but that doesn’t mean that the exterior hasn’t changed noticeably.
The newest Corsa’s front features a new grille, redesigned headlights, and an upgraded bumper. The new low-set front grille has a split in the middle featuring the chromed Opel logo. The updates have obviously taken its cue from the Corsa’s smaller brother, the Adam. The back of the Opel Corsa 2014 has been left unchanged, though.
The interior, however, has been given a total overhaul. A brand new speedometer with a clean, minimalist style has been put in this car. The dials are backlit in white that make the speed and revolutions per minute easy to read. Fuel level and engine temperature can be found at the top, with the dashboard featuring some new soft touch button. There is also a TFT screen added to the center of the dashboard. The Opel Corsa 2014 has also acquired a new steering wheel that fits comfortably in the hands and is easily operated, with the expected control buttons.
The center stack has also undergone changes and features a new layout for the radio and all the other controls that can be found there. The sound system has also been updated, offering good quality sound even when playing mp3s.
The interior is expected to be spacious and there is ample room for five, though featuring a diminished boot space. However, the rear seats can be folded down for more space to carry items in if needed.
The Opel Corsa 2014 will also be adding at least one new engine, the 1.0-liter SIDI turbocharged three-cylinder, to its engine range. Some other tweaks are expected for the engine that could improve fuel economy and reduce carbon emission.
The latest Corsa is expected to debut at either the Geneva Motor Show in March or the Frankfurt Motor Show in the fall.
The Renault Twingo 2014 is the third generation of the city car that is manufactured by Renault, the French automaker and was premiered twelve years ago, in September of 1992. Its name, Twingo, is a combination of the three words: twist, swing, and tango.
The redesign is expected to have a styling theme similar to the Twin’Run concept, but without the racing details and with an extra pair of doors, that can only be called Renault 5-inspired. The shape and appearance is obviously heavily influenced by the Renault 5’s hatch.
The latest generation of the model is expected to have a five-door design, in order to appeal more to males since Renault has found that the majority of Twingo buyers are female. There have been reports that the three-door body style isn’t in any of Renault’s planned offerings, but that isn’t set in stone. The body will be measuring in at 3,700mm or 146inches long and will be able to accommodate more than two people comfortably.
Something new and exciting can be expected for this iteration since Renault has been collaborating with Daimler and Mercedes-Benz. The groups are developing the Smart ForTwo, Smart ForFour, and the Renault Twingo 2014 with a common platform that will have a rear engine and rear-mounted drive train, as opposed to the more traditional front engine and front-wheel drive combination found in most city cars.
It is reported that the two cars are going to be built in one factory in Slovenia.
Though there are no specific details about the new rear-wheel drive, it is believed that the Renault and the Smart cars are going to be offered three-cylinder mills that go with manual or dual-clutch transmissions. People can also expect that a purely electric drive is going to be developed sometime in the future.
Renault claims that this latest version will have more interior space since the engine is being moved to the rear, allowing for the dashboard to be moved forward some more. Extensive personalization options for the new Twingo can probably be expected since Renault itself has said that it is a bigger success than they expected it to be. Although, the company has also said that this success is relative and is not necessarily a good thing.
Expect the Renault Twingo 2014 to be debuted at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014 and for it to come on sale in early 2015.
The Ferrari FXX is the result of the expertise of Ferrari’s people in introducing the limited sports car series to the public. This high performance race car and prototype, produced in 2005, is based on the street-legal Enzo. Only 30 of these were made, one among which is a special edition. The other 29 cars were sold to preselected clients of the car company, and were only made available in Europe. They can only be imported in any other continents, but cannot be owned anywhere else. It was reported that the FXX Evolution package costs 1.5 million euros, tax excluded. The package includes the car, the crew and the services provided by Ferrari.
Built for Speed
Powered by its 6262 cc V12 engine made of naturally aspirated aluminum, it can run with up to 800 horsepower at 8500 rpm. The car’s gearbox can deliver gear changes within under 100 ms. This is why it is almost the same speed as the F1 single-seater vehicles. The aerodynamics of FXX is also another innovation for the company, as that car’s shape can produce 40% higher downforce in comparison with any other models made before it. Its spoiler can also be reconfigured to meet the needs for racing.
Performance at its Finest
This two-seater berlinetta also has a maximum torque of 686 Nm at 5750 rpm. It measures 4.83 meters in length, 2.04 meters in width and 1.13 meters in height. The Ferrari FXX also offers a speed of 345 kilometers per hour. It has an acceleration speed of 20 to 60 mph in 2.44 seconds. It has front and rear Brembo carbon-ceramic disc brakes, with 6-piston calipers on front and 4-piston calipers at the rear, both with power assist ABS.
The car’s 6-speed transmission is semi-automatic. It also features a comprehensive telemetry and data monitoring, allowing the driver to improve the driving performance and offers the technicians of Ferrari with valuable information that can help improve the FXX’s performance for the benefit of the future road-going Ferraris.
A Closely Guarded Secret
The technology used for the Ferrari FXX is based from that of the Enzo Ferrari, in combination with some new developments from the car company and its suppliers. Mainly, the FXX is made as a part of a program wherein customers pay £2 million to be able to drive this specific car on special track days set by Ferrari. After the drive, the owners are then mandated to join a briefing about the car’s performance, as conducted by Ferrari. It is thought that the company is doing this to closely guard the technological advances applied on the car and to avoid the car owners from inadvertently sharing the information with the company’s competitors.
Since 2005, the program was only continued in 2009 for the purpose of improving the car’s performance under the Evolution kit. As part of the improvement, there have been gearbox changes to help reduce the shift time to 60 ms per shift. Changes to its aerodynamics have also been made, along with developments to the car’s traction control system. The Ferrari FXX is statistically Ferrari’s fastest car released yet.
The 599XX Evo 2 Competition is a supercar manufactured by Ferrari.
The Ferrari 599XX Evo, (shorthand for the “Evolution Package”) is the latest iteration of the 599XX model. The first 599XX was based on Ferrari’s 599 GTB Fiorano model—a model which was designed by Pininfarina under the guidance of Frank Stephenson and was produced from 2006 up until 2012, at which point it was replaced by the F12 Berlinetta.
The Ferrari 599XX itself was not street legal, and neither is the 599XX Evo; both models having been designed specifically for track use. The Ferrari 599XX Evolution 2 Competition, which is the souped-up version of the powerful 599XX, is equipped with what Ferrari calls the “Evolution Package,” which is a series of technical upgrades and new features which are meant to further boost and enhance the vehicle’s already-impressive performance. These upgrades were first made available to a select few clients of Ferrari who participated in the 2012-2013 season of Ferrari’s track-based research and development program, known officially as the Corse Clienti. Only clients who already owned the Ferrari 599XX were eligible to acquire the “Evolution Package.”
One of the core features of the 599XX’s “Evolution Package,” known in Italian as the “Evoluzione,” is the addition of an on-board active aerodynamics system which aims to tighten the supercar’s handling during cornering and improve its overall performance and overall maneuverability. This new active aerodynamics system includes an active rear wing which—after taking into account several factors such as the 599XX’s vehicle speed, steering wheel angle and rate of acceleration—will fine-tune the downforce between the car’s front-wheel and rear-wheel axles via adjusting its twin aerodynamic flaps. The new aerodynamics system also features, among other things, a newly-designed rear diffuser which has a markedly larger surface area and a new front splitter.
All told, the Ferrari 599XX, equipped with the “Evolution Package,” features an increase in downforce—970 pounds when the twin aerodynamic flaps are open and 727 pounds when they’re closed—that is markedly higher than that of its non-upgraded version.
The Ferrari 599XX Evolution 2 Competition sports a 6.0-liter V-12 engine, which has a displacement of 6000cc and puts out 700 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, which is further boosted to an astonishing 740 horsepower thanks to the model’s upgraded side-exhaust system. The Ferrari 599XX Evolution 2 Competition can deliver 516 lb-ft of torque at an estimated 6,500 rpm. This ultra-powerful supercar goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as three seconds and has a top speed of a blistering one hundred and ninety-six miles per hour. The Ferrari 599XX Evolution 2 Competition weighs an estimated 3,275 lb, which is about 77 pounds lighter than the original 599XX model. It comes equipped with 19-inch slick tires and also features a 6-speed automated manual transmission system, which has a final gear ratio that is shorter than the its regular 599XX equivalent.
