Cars are always present in people’s daily lives since they were first invented in the 1880s. Back then, cars were expensive luxuries that only rich people could afford. It was the year 1908 when cars were first made affordable by Henry Ford. This move led to the distribution of vehicles to the general public. This move also popularized vehicles because of their usefulness and performance. Today, vehicles are popular because they are considered as embodiments of a person’s wealth. Many car manufacturers use this premise to make more luxurious vehicles that bring something new to the table every year. They are annually highlighted at the grandest stage of vehicle exhibition known as the Detroit Auto Show. In this article, we will talk about the 2014 Detroit Auto Show including new vehicles, news, and the show’s highlights.
The 2014 Detroit Auto Show was held from January 13 until January 26. During these days, numerous events took place at the location with the first five days reserved for different previews and the remaining 9 days open to the public. There are a total of 35 car introductions in the entire event. The introductions are categorized as concept car, production car, and race car. The production car category consisted of 21 vehicles that received different improvements that enhanced their looks, performance, and design. The concept car category consisted of 12 vehicles that define the current engineering marvels of their respective brands. The vehicles under this category are arguably the most awaited vehicles in the entire show. The race car category only consisted of 2 vehicles but nevertheless impressed attendees because of the sheer and raw power that the vehicles possessed.
The main event of the entire vehicle exhibition is the awarding ceremony. The awards for the event include “Car of the Year”, “Truck of the Year”, “Best Production Vehicle”, “Best Concept Vehicle”, and “Best Use of Colours, Graphics, and Materials”. The winner for the Car of the Year award is the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray while the Truck of the Year award went to the Chevrolet Silverado. The 2015 Ford Mustang received the Best Production Vehicle award while the Volvo Concept XC Coupe won both the Best Concept Vehicle award and the Best Use of Colours, Graphics, and Materials award.
The highlight of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show is the unveiling and introduction of vehicles to the public. Generally, this is the most awaited portion of the event because of the hype the vehicles got as well as the numerous teasers that companies release prior to the event. In this year’s Auto Show, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is considered as having the best highlight because it combines a powerful engine with a swift and dexterous body.
Another highlight of the event is the unveiling and introduction of Kia’s GT4 Stinger concept and Toyota’s FT-1 concept. Both of these vehicles are classified as sports cars, meaning their design and performance generally appeal to the public. These two vehicles are also surprise entrants to the event since Kia and Toyota released trailers for their respective vehicles only within months of the Auto Show. Aside from these vehicles, other concept cars that generated tremendous hype include the North American debut of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Concept, the Volvo Concept XC Coupe, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rogue concept, and the Acura TLX Prototype.
Concept cars aside, the Detroit Auto Show also focused its spotlight on production vehicles, especially on the 2015 Ford Mustang, the 2015 Lexus RCF, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the 2015 Porsche 911 Targa, and the 2015 Subaru WRX STI. These vehicles received either a facelift or a performance overhaul resulting to their presence in the Auto Show. There is also a highlight on vehicular technology introduced by Audi and Nissan. Audi introduced their all road shooting brake, while Nissan introduced their IDx Free flow system and IDx NISMO debut for the United States market. It is expected that these technologies would be added to the vehicles of their respected brands within this year.
Even though the vehicles in the event are categorized as production, concept, and race, it is better to list these vehicles according to their brands since it would help determine what brands have stepped up a notch in this year’s Auto Show. Audi introduced their 2015 models – the Audi A8 and Audi Q3. Both of these vehicles had facelifts and are set for a United States release this year. BMW introduced their 2014 model for the BMW 2 Series and 2015 models for the BMW M3 and BMW M4. Cadillac also makes an appearance in the show via their release of the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe.
Chevrolet, on the other hand made their mark on the show with the introduction of the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, its variant – the C7 R, and the 2015 Camaro. Of all the vehicles in the event, the Corvette Stingray is easily the best because of its massive horsepower and elegant design. Chrysler and GMC also made an appearance in the event with the Chrysler 200 and GMC Canyon respectively. Ford introduced the 2015 Ford F-150 and their very popular Ford Mustang. The 2015 Ford Mustang received a major facelift and has been on the receiving end of paparazzi photos ever since Ford announced that the Mustang will have a new design. Honda and Hyundai introduced their Fit and Genesis, respectively, while Kia and Infiniti released their Q50 and GT4 Stinger concept vehicles, respectively.
Lexus introduced their 2015 models for the RC and the sportier RCF. Mercedes-Benz introduced their budget friendly 2015 C-Class, the GLA 45 AMG crossover, and the S600 executive car. Mercedes-Benz also introduced their S-Class coupe concept for the US market. Porsche introduced the 2015 911 Targa while Subaru introduced the 2015 WRX STI. Both of these vehicles received design and performance upgrades. Volkswagen introduced several cars, namely the 2015 Golf R, the Beetle Dune, and the Passat BlueMotion Concept. Near the end of the list is Acura’s TLX and TLX GT followed by the Mini John Cooper Works Concept. The last 3 vehicles on this list are Nissan’s Sports Sedan Concept, the Toyota FT-1, and the Volvo Concept XC Coupe.
The Lexus LFA was launched in 2010 at the 41st Tokyo International Motorshow. Its production started in December 2010 and ended in December 2012 with only 500 of them produced worldwide. This supercar from Lexus boasts of its superfast top speed of 325km/h with an acceleration of 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds. That is surely a heart-stopping driving experience.
What makes the Lexus LFA extremely special is that majority of its components are exclusive, unique and are assembled mainly for this supercar, by hand. It took the makers of this car 10 years to design, innovate and conceptualize the supercar that pushes all boundaries to their limits.
In the earlier prototypes, the Lexus LFA was made from aluminum. But even if this material is already lightweight, the engineers at Lexus feel that it is still too heavy for the ultimate performance they want to achieve. To address this issue, the engineers formulated an ultra-light but extremely durable and tough Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) and replaced the aluminum body. To ensure that the Lexus quality is achieved, the company developed its own carbon loom manufacturing process instead of outsourcing it from elsewhere. This ensures strict quality control and standard materials used for the production of the Lexus LFA.
To live up to its supercar status, the Lexus LFA is hand-built with a 4.8 V10 naturally aspirated engine. Before the Lexus LFA was launched, it was exhaustedly tested and perfected at the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany. Conventional analogue tachometers are not able to keep up with the ultra fast revving of this modern-day supercar. Of course, immense power must be coupled with great control. That is why the Lexus LFA’s superb V10 engine is married to a lightning-fast 6-speed automated sequential gearbox.
Another unique characteristic of the Lexus LFA is its hair-raising sound. This is no accident. Haruhiko Tanachi, the chief engineer of LFA wants to achieve a high-speed symphony that will give the driver and the onlookers an unforgettable auditory experience. It is the Formula 1 sound that inspired the hair-raising wail of the Lexus LFA. To achieve its unmistakable roar, LFA closely worked in conjunction with Yamaha. As a result, the surge tank of the Lexus LFA is made with horizontal ribs and rigid sides. To refine the exhaust note further, tubular manifolds with equal lengths are used. This means the driver’s ears are surrounded with high notes while the lower frequencies are pushed towards the feet of the driver.
Precision is what makes Lexus LFA. It offers high-speed halting power as well as anti-fade performance with its precisely-adjusted braking system. The Lexus LFA also boasts its world-class aerodynamics for high-speed stability and optimum drive train cooling. The Lexus LFA also uses Electric Power Steering or EPS for excellent responsiveness.
For an ultra-fast supercar such as the Lexus LFA, safety is a much-needed requirement. It introduced the world’s first shoulder belt bag to minimize secondary injuries from collisions. The Lexus LFA is not only a sleek, athletic and muscular supercar. It is also the epitome of speed, precision and safety.
The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S Roadster is the modified edition of the Roadster SLR 722. This open-top luxury supercar delivers 650hp and reaches an acceleration speed of 0-60mph in just 3.7seconds. It offers a top speed of 335mph. The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S offers dynamic suspension tuning and better aerodynamics.
The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S uses the same supercharged 5.5L V8 engine that is standard in SLR Roadster. The engine of the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is tweaked to 650 hp which is 26 hp higher than the standard SLR Roadster. The SLR 722S started its production in 2009 and will only be limited to 150 units.
This two-seater super sports car features a fully retractable soft top made from carbon fiber to ensure it can withstand the car’s top speed. The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S offers optimum safety and superb torsional stiffness. The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S also boasts of its aero-acoustics which makes it possible to have a decent conversation even at a speed of more than 20kmh when the lid is closed.
To ensure that the driver and the passenger is kept comfortable during the ride, an airbrake is added into the boot lid as well as an enclosed body, rear bumper diffuser and front end air splitter for maximum downforce with small wheel spoilers to reduce disturbance at the rear axle. The body of the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is lowered at the front and back by 10 millimeters, replaced with stiffer springs and shock absorber configurations are enhanced; all these improvement for enhanced handling.
For lower weight, the body of the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is made of carbon fiber materials with A-pillars reinforced with steel and dual rollover bars except the two aluminum frames. This also results to higher level of energy absorption, torsional rigidity and enhanced handling. For added safety features, safety elements such as adaptive airbags, belt tensioners, knee and side bags and a tire pressure monitoring system are also included.
To provide the most comfortable ride, its sports bucket seats are upholstered with semi-aniline leather or Alcantara which are complemented with red seatbelts. Inside is also a two-zone automatic climate control, multifunction sports steering wheel with shift paddles, BOSE high-quality sound system and a navigation system with integrated CD player and radio. Add its specific 19-inch wheels and stiffer chassis, the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is clearly a world apart from the other luxury cars of its caliber.
To add more harshness to the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S, all its force and power is channeled to the rear wheels via Mercedes Benz’s 5-speed automatic transmission which you can control with a switch for unexpected quick shifts. The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is best driven in a highway on low-traffic days for you to experience its autobahn properties. With the Mercedes Benz SLR 722S, the faster it goes, the more comfortable it feels.
The Mercedes Benz SLR 722S is truly a rare luxury supercar that certainly attracts attention not only for its style but also for its performance.
The S Class has long been the flagship sedan of Mercedes Benz. Undergoing a full model makeover just recently, the entire line is still evolving up to the present minute. While the catalogue of engine options is impressive to say the least, a lot of enthusiasts are clamoring for the release of a V12 engine option. And while the S65 engine has a V12 that produces over 600 horsepower, there are those looking for something that’s not as crazy as the AMG. This is where the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 comes into the picture. By the looks of it, this car is definitely worth the wait.
From the outside, there are some changes in the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 that will help you identify it from the other variants of the S-Class. Up front, a modified lower fascia and horizontal grille slits are added for extra cooling. On the rear, quad exhausts reminiscent of AMG models are installed. Cosmetic updates are completed by the addition of V12 badges on the front quarter panels.
The interior of the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 is still as stylish as ever before. High-quality materials are used for the seats, trim, and other interior parts. Space is still very sufficient in both front and rear seats, and features that provide both comfort and entertainment for all occupants are in place. Additional optional items that will make their debut in the S600 (but soon will be available to other S-Class variants) include a touchpad above the COMAND knob, a display that shows info such as speed and warnings at the windshield, and an updated collision prevention system.
Of course, the highlight in the introduction of the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 is the introduction of a 6.0 liter V12 engine. For those keeping score, the previous S600 actually houses a 5.5 liter V12. Maximum output is measured at 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. Impressively, most of this massive engine’s horsepower and torque can be tapped at the low-rpm, providing a super-smooth, hard-accelerating ride. A stop-start system is also installed, which improves fuel economy by at least 20 percent. This engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission named as the 7G-Tronic Plus.
Performance figures are still not available as of presstime, but it’s expected that the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 will perform better than the previous S600. A zero-to-100 km/h acceleration of time of around 4.5 seconds is to be expected. Top speed is expected to be at an electronically-limited 250 km/h, though it’s realistically expect that this car is capable of going higher than that. A Magic Body Control suspension is fitted into this car, which automatically adjusts its settings according to road surface conditions.
The 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2014 as a 2015 model. It is only during this time where motorists like us can get a full idea of what this car is capable of. While it’s less extreme than the S65 AMG, never think for a second that this V12-powered sedan is not good enough.
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury arm, is best known for creating cars with superior comfort and sophistication. However, thanks to cars such as the LF-A and the IS F, Lexus is starting to gain a sportier reputation. Adding to this reputation even further is a car that has just been released for this year: the Lexus RC F. Lexus says that this car is created with “pure driving enjoyment” in mind. This article will see if this car indeed lives up to that promise.
The Lexus RC F was released with much fanfare at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The look is distinctively futuristic, with its edgy lines, uniquely placed daytime running lights, and a massive mesh grille that’s woven from numerous F emblems. Based on the Lexus RC, the F version of this coupe comes with extensive bodywork that optimizes airflow, improves aerodynamics, and creates a sportier look. Most of these modifications are functional. Take for example the hood bulge and expanded front fenders. Doing these modifications are necessary to fit in a bigger engine (more on that later).
The interior of the Lexus RC F stays true to its sports car intentions. The seats are wrapped with leather, with prospective owners having 5 different colors for upholstery to choose from. You’ll also see unique stitching on the seats, which are actually inspired by form-fitting base layers worn by professional athletes. A bespoke steering wheel that provides superior grip is also installed. As for the dashboard, the tachometer is located at the center of the information screen, with the speedometer located on its right and the information screen located on its left. In a unique touch of detail, the cluster detailing changes depending on which drive mode is selected.
It is on the performance department where the Lexus RC F makes a killing. It all starts with the 5.0 liter V8 engine housed under that radically shaped hood. Somewhat similar to the engine installed on the IS F, it carries a number of modifications that allow it to have a maximum output of 450 horsepower. Outside of the limited-numbers supercar LF-A, this is the most powerful Lexus ever produced. The RC F’s engine runs on an Atkinson cycle on most driving conditions for better fuel economy, while switching to an Otto cycle when more power is needed. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that is programmed to better fit the RC F’s needs.
There are not much performance information available yet for the Lexus RC F as it’s released just weeks ago. However, it is realistic to expect that its performance would be superb. Expect a 0-to-100 km/h run to be completed in less than 5 seconds. Also, expect a top speed that approaches anywhere between 260 to 300 km/h. The RC F is expected to compete against sport coupes such as the BMW M4, and it is also expected that it would give them a legit run for their money at the very least.
For all it’s worth, the Lexus RC F shall be a compelling car to purchase. Sealing Lexus’s new sporty reputation, it’s seemingly destined to be among the best sports cars for 2014.
The Lamborghini Countach LP400 is obviously a head turner with its remarkable futuristic design. The Lamborghini Countach LP400 popularized the wedge shape and sharp angle look that is now commonly seen in high-performance supercars. It is also the Lamborghini Countach LP400 that started the cabin-forward concept which allows the accommodation of a larger engine, making the Countach popular. The word “countach” is a Piedmontese dialect in Italy used to describe an extremely attractive woman. Feruccio Lamborghini, the Italian automaker, exclaimed countach when he first saw the first prototype, thus, the name of the car.
The Lamborghini Countach LP400 was in production from 1974 to 1990. There were only 157 Countach LP400 that were built and 237 Countach LP400S. This iconic supercar is designed by the then young Marcello Gandini. Although inexperienced and young at that time, Gandini was able to produce an instantly recognizable and striking design. The shape of this supercar is low and wide with 1.07m but is not very long with only 4.1m.
The scissor doors that were first introduced in the Lamborghini Countach LP400 also became the Lamborghini trademark. The scissors doors of this supercar were hinged using horizontal hinges at the front causing them to lift up and tilt forwards. The scissor doors of the Lamborghini Countach LP400 are not only for aesthetic purposes but also because of the car’s width which is not suitable for conventional doors. This is due to the tubular space frame chassis of the car that requires high and wide door sills.
Despite the greatness of its design, the Lamborghini Countach LP400 is meant for high roof overhead. The scissor doors need enough space to open properly. This supercar also has poor rear visibility that is why drivers of this said supercar usually opens their door while sitting on the sill and reverses the car by looking at the back of their car when parking.
Through the years, the Lamborghini Countach LP400 has evolved greatly since its prototype to improve its handling, performance, tractability and its ability to conform to mandated requirements. The visual impression, outrageous design and originality of the Countach made it a very distinct supercar, thus making it a design icon. Although the Diablo and Murcielago is better known for their performances, they lack the distinction and greatness of the Countach’s design.
The Countach is built with the traditional Lamborghini V12 engine on its rear wheels, mounted longitudinally using a mid-engine configuration. It has a top speed of 316Km/h reaching 0-100Km/h in 5.60 seconds. It has a fuel capacity of 32 gallons and an engine oil of 5 gallon. All European models of the Countach are built with the six Weber carburetors until it became available in America which paved the way to the 5000QV model using Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection.
Although only minimal changes were made on the design of the Lamborghini Countach LP400, each development increased its power, making the most sought-after Countach.
Hardtop convertibles are very much commonplace nowadays. Combining the advantages of a hardtop and a convertible, it allows people to enjoy the wind while driving if the weather is fine and also enjoy weather protection when the weather is less than cooperative. While this technology is more or less unappreciated now (perhaps because the technology is now so commonplace), it was such a marvel to see back in the day. The first production hardtop in automotive history (or at least in an American car) was seen in the Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner, a car that was produced from 1957 to 1959.
The man responsible for the creation of the Skyliner is a man by the name of Gil Spear. He proposed “Roof-O-Matic”, an automatic roof system wherein the hardtop is stowed into the trunk when not in use. Together with Ben Smith, they engineered a retractable hardtop for the Ford Fairlane. The mechanism was relatively simple: raise the rear deck, unlatch the top, fold the top to fit into the space allotted for it, stow the roof, then close the decklid. However, executing this is not as easy as it sounds.
Here is a list of some of the modifications present in the Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner to make the hardtop function work. 7 electric motors play different roles to make the sequence work. To synchronize the functions of each motor, a cycling switch, 10 limit switches, and 10 relays are used. The Skyliner also has a unique decklid, rear fenders, a frame longer than the standard Fairlane convertible by 6 inches, repositioned cross-members and fuel tank, and 18 new body mounts just to name some of them. All these modifications added 500 pounds on the Fairlane’s overall weight.
To offset such a weight disadvantage, various modifications are employed on the Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner. The extra weight required the use of wider heavy-duty steel wheels to support the weight of the car. Also, engine choices are limited to the more powerful variants, with the 272-cid V8 engine producing 190 horsepower coming as standard. Perhaps the most intriguing engine in the Skyliner product line is the so-called F-Code engine. It is a 312-cid engine that comes with a McCulloch supercharger, increasing maximum output to at least 300 horsepower.
The Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner became very popular overnight because of its unique hardtop. But more than just for the novelty of owning the world’s first production car with a retractable hardtop, this car is a legitimate luxury cruiser. Just about everyone loves its distinctively 50s design and its tastefully-sorted interior. However, if there’s a weakness to such a groundbreaking automobile, it is the price. Costing more than 3000 dollars each in 1957, a lot of buyers believe the Skyliner is too expensive for what it offers.
While the Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was not as successful as initially hoped, it is still one of the most unique cars to come out of the 1950s. They are still well-appreciated today, with fully-restored and complete examples fetching prices in the $50000-75000 range.
Tuning Ford Mustangs has always been very popular. After all, they are affordable, attractive, and carry loads of performance potential. Some extreme tuner Mustangs have come out of the woodwork over the years, boasting beefed-up components, overpowering engines, and relentless performance. Karl Geiger, a German importer of American cars and known tuner of muscle cars such as the Mustang, has come up with the Geiger Ford Shelby GT500. This just might be the best-tuned Mustang to come out of the market as of late.
Geiger’s claim to fame is the creation of the Geiger Ford Shelby GT640 Golden Snake, a gold-colored pony car with a tuned Shelby engine that produces 640 horsepower. However, before the Golden Snake, there is the Geiger Ford Shelby GT500, a machine made with meaner stuff. It comes with a host of modifications that don’t seem visible on the surface. While it still looks like your usual GT500, it packs enough goodies inside that it will decimate a stock GT500, as formidable as it is, with utter ease.
Just like most tuner cars, the component that takes most of the headlines in the Geiger Ford Shelby GT500 is the engine. It is still the same 5.4 liter supercharged V8 engine seen on the stock GT500, but Geiger upgraded it to the point that it simply gained a completely different character. A 3.3 liter Whipple supercharger is installed to create extra boost. Combined with other modifications such as larger throttle valves, ported cylinder heads, and improved fuel injection system, maximum output is now measured at 799 horsepower and 697 lb-ft of torque.
A host of modifications must be done to help the Geiger Ford Shelby GT500 handle all that power. It all starts with the drivetrain system. The stock 6-speed manual transmission received a number of updates to reinforce it. A triple-plate carbon clutch is created to ensure no slippage occurs during the shifting of gears. Cornering characteristics are improved with the help of Geiger’s reinforced racing chassis. This is complemented by upgraded suspension parts such as polyurethane bushings and adjustable lower control arms. Ensuring that the car can stop as good as it accelerates, upgraded 15-inch disc brakes with 6 pistons are installed. OZ Racing 20-inch wheels, 8.5 inches wide at the front and 10 inches at the rear, are installed on the front.
While there are no extensive road tests done with this car, it is safe to say that the Geiger Ford Shelby GT500 has a strong case to being the fastest tuner Mustang in the world today. Due to its immense power, it’s estimated that it can accelerate from 0-to-100 in the 3-second range. Furthermore, according to Geiger, their Shelby is capable of reaching speeds of over 200 mph. Plus with all the reinforcements installed in this car, it is safe to say that it is just as fast on the corners as it is on a straight line.
The Geiger Ford Shelby GT500 is a product that all Ford and Mustang enthusiasts will be excited about. With its borderline crazy performance figures, this car can burn rubber and has the ability to leave a lot of fast cars at the dust.
The new Alfa Romeo Giuletta y 2014 is a stylish and comfy car with ample storage. It’s actually a highly likeable package – a nice, mid-sized family hatchback with the emotive Alfa badge hanging on its nose. Leave it to an Italian car maker to incorporate some desired improvements without sacrificing cohesiveness.
Key components like the engine have been improved. The new Alfa Romeo Giuletta y 2014 is powered by a 1.4 TB MultiAire engine that offers optimization of engine combustion and fuel efficiency. The noise factor is likewise reduced. The car is fitted with a 2.0-litre diesel engine known as the JTDM 2. It produces 150bhp. The car is touted to be able to emit a tidy 110g/km of carbon dioxide, which translates to cheap road tax.
In terms of design, the car is sporty & elegant. Though very discerning car buyers may opine that there’s not much to crow about in the new Alfa Romeo Giuletta y 2014, since the car simply underwent a minor facelift, the overall stylish look makes it stand out. Car buyers looking for design flair and sporty character in one sleek package will find the 2014 Alfa Romeo Giuletta a worthy choice.
There’s reason to believe the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta y 2014 will spur sales further, more so because of its environment-friendly feature. Technological breakthroughs incorporated in the car have reduced particulates and emissions. When in full throttle, the car hums in a quiet way. The engine is actually quiet up to 3000rpm.
Alfa Romeo cars are known to stand out, and the new Giuletta is no exception. On the exterior, the front grille and chrome-plated frame of the foglights are noticeable. A closer look will reveal a different grille. The car seems to brim with energy yet exude understated elegance. Italian flair is evident in other components that serve a dual purpose of injecting style and ensuring safety. Modern features like new alloy wheels add to the sporty appeal of the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta y 2014.
Most car buyers pay particular attention to details in the interiors. Topnotch amenities and homogenous elements contribute to a first-rate car. The seats and steering wheel of the new Alfa Romeo Giuletta show improvements. Of special note is the new infotainment system, Uconnect, that can support a range of gadgets like MP3 devices and smartphones. The navigation system can use some tweaking, though.
Aficionados have noted though that while the car does have attractive features, there’s a whole lot of plastic finishes inside the car. Tactility is not one of the key strengths of the new Alfa Giuletta.
Nonetheless, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta y 2014 is not to be left behind among the marquees in terms of technology. The car’s Alfa DNA selector allows customization of the vehicle’s behavior, allowing the driver to cruise various road conditions. The result is a pure driving pleasure and a warm, enveloping ambience for passengers. It’s a youthful, interesting car with some quirks characteristic of Italian cars. Placed alongside premium hatchbacks in the market, though, it is difficult to say that whether or not the new Giuletta can win over modern car buyers.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi are “Germany’s Big 3” when it comes to luxury car manufacturing, and are among the best-selling luxury car manufacturers in the world.
‘Das Besteodernichts’; meaning ‘The Best or Nothing’, is Mercedes-Benz’s slogan for automobile manufacturing. The Mercedes-Benz is a symbol of royalty when it comes to luxury cars. And they do deliver the best, and these are the best of the best.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT
At the top of the list nothing but perfection from the Mercedes-Benz brand. If you are looking for a Mercedes-Benz car to buy, then you want the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GTCoupe and Roadster. It is a rare supercar that will surely turn heads and will make other drivers only wish they could own one. It is the kind of supercar that everyone should go after.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is the beefed-up and redefined version of the regular Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. It has more horsepower, more control, more costly, and has two more letters in its name.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT looks exactly the same as the SLS AMG 2012 version on the outside; both are visual monsters. It looks absolutely stunning on the exterior and features proud gull-wing doors. The SLS AMG GT’s looks slightly cartoonish, in a good way, which all supercars should be. It is slightly longer in the front hood and shorter in the back, which works incredibly well for this finely-detailed supercar.
|Width||6 ft. 4.3 in. (76.3 in.)|
|Length||15 ft. 2.6 in. (182.6 in.)|
|Rear Track||5 ft. 5 in. (65 in.)|
|Height||4 ft. 1.7 in. (49.7 in.)|
|Front Track||5 ft. 6.2 in. (66.2 in.)|
|Wheel base||8 ft. 9.5 in. (105.5 in.)|
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG features variable rain sensing wipers and rear defogger, for some added driver convenience.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT includes more horsepower and sharper handling as compared to the previous version. The SLS AMG GT can move from absolute 0 to 60 mph in just within 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 197 mph. Absolutely fast, but still incredibly maneuverable in corners.
|Engine||6.2L DOHC 32-valve V8 Cylinder|
|Power||583 HP @ 6800 RPM|
|Transmission||7-speed automated manual|
|Drivetrain||Rear wheel drive|
|Curb Weight||3804 lb (46/54%)|
The SLS AMG GT has a double wishbone front and rear suspension system, a four-wheel independent suspension, and a stabilizer bar for both the front and rear.
Treat this supercar with respect. Though the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has troubles with steering at high speed, the SLS AMG GT is still a little tricky as well, but it did improve in corners. Acceleration tests confirm that the extra added horsepower in the SLS AMG GT didn’t show significant improvements from the older SLS AMG. Driving the SLS AMG GT requires a lot of effort and concentration from the driver. Although the brakes work incredibly well, when the SLS AMG GT loses grip, it can be hard to handle for the average driver.
- Reliable every day car
- Gull-wing door looks awesome
- Gorgeous body
- The sound the engine makes is phenomenal
