Porsche and the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept
Last month, Porsche announced its unofficial intention to go after the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake, and so, the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept has been officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The new generation of the Panamera might borrow some styling cues from this concept as well as the plug-in hybrid powertrain trapped under the bonnet. The supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine combined with an electric motor and a 9.4 kWh lithium-ion battery totals a combined output of around 416 HP – 306 kW. This enables the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in less than six seconds. Also, the car can travel over 30km on electricity alone.
In the mean time, in an interview for Automotive News, board member Bernhard Maier stated “it is getting more likely that we will do such a car.” He added the car will also be showcased in the United States and China, to gain additional feedback.
The design of the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept is interesting nevertheless but it brings to mind two other shooting brake-like vehicles. The Ferrari FF and the Fisker Karma Surf Concept.
