Renault Alpine arriving in 2015
News about the Renault Alpine are flowing in as the French automaker released a few more details about its upcoming supercar. As you’ve probably heard before, the Alpine will be built in collaboration with Caterham and it could bear a price tag of around 60,000 EUR.
In an interview given to Autocar, Renault’s marketing chief, Mr. Stephen Norman described the car as being similar if not “less hardcore than a Mazda MX-5.” He also added that the Alpine will be light and it will look different, emphasizing on French DNA and technical innovations.
Set to rival the Porsche Boxter, the sporty Renault could boast a Renault engine under the bonnet, with 250 HP – 186 kW, while Caterham’s version is expected to feature a Clio RS-sourced 1.6-liter Renaultsport, turbocharged, direct-injection engine with 200 HP – 149 kW. Last but not least, the 2.0-liter, 265 HP – 197 kW from the Megane Cup is also a possibility.
