The Steinmetz Opel Insignia Sports Tourer OPC is officially the fastest Opel ever built after setting a new speed record for street legal Opel Vehicles going at 287.4 km/h. This record was set in the middle of October at the Nardo ring in Italy where drivers could reach maximum speed without turning the wheels on a massive 12 kilometer oval circuit.
Steinmetz, the well known Opel tuner, installed a special aerodynamic kit to the new Insignia which includes new front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a new grille. The car also received a lower suspension system, 20″ alloy wheels and some special touches like chrome trim and floor mats.
The special Steinmetz Opel Insignia Sports Tourer OPC managed to set this speed world record after it received a bigger turbocharger, an upgraded intercooler and a new exhaust from Klasen Motors. The car also received a couple of upgrades to the fuel injectors and a reprogrammed ECU and after these modifications its engine was able to develop 400 HP and a maximum torque of 550 Nm.
