The Indian subsidiary of Suzuki unveiled today the Suzuki R3 Concept MPV at the Auto Expo 2010 from New Delhi. The car features rearward opening doors which provide a better access for its rear passengers and are a lot better than the previous versions with sliding doors.
The front side of the Suzuki R3 Concept MPV has high intensity lights which are contrasted with LED accents that also appear in the rear side of the car. Maruti Suzuki India will probably equip this car if it goes into production with a 1.2L or a 1.4L petrol engine or a Fiat built 1.3L diesel engine. These engines will be connected to a five speed manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki has announced that a production version of the Suzuki R3 Concept MPV might be available on the Indian market in about two years.
A couple of days after Volkswagen announced that they are going to buy almost 20% of Suzuki, the two companies announced that they will team up to create a new small car. The new car is going to be a replacement for the Alto model and Volkswagen and Suzuki are planning to build a small car that will be priced between $4,300 and $5,400 and will target the Indian market.
The Alto model was a bestseller in India and Maruti Suzuki became India’s leading passenger carmaker probably because of their popular small and cheap car but the new small car by Volkswagen and Suzuki might offer a lot more than the Alto.
The car will probably cost two times the price of the world’s cheapest car which is the Tata Nano that was launched earlier this year. Volkswagen will buy 20% stake of Suzuki for $2.5 billion and with the help of the Indian market they are getting closer of becoming one of the best selling automakers in the word.
SEMA show is almost near and every day we hear about more impressive cars that are going to be premiered there. Three custom Suzuki Kizashi will be on the spotlight and will probably turn a lot of heads at next month’s auto show. This car will also come with new sport springs, front and rear sway bars, high performance brakes, a new intake system, Zeitronix ZT-2 data logging system and a re-programmed ECU that will add a slight boost to this car’s performances.
The second modified Suzuki Kizashi was named Delta and it was developed by Delta Tech Engineering, a company who installed an RK Sport body kit, new seats and LED And HID lights. The car will also come with a high performance exhaust system and under the hood there’s a cold air intake that will improve engine cooling.
The third modified Suzuki Kizashi named Westside has a design inspired from the famous Hayabusa bike and features a two tone paint job, redesigned front and rear fenders, custom air vents, a new grill, modified door handles and a new front bumper. The car also features a new rear bumper, a new boot lid, a GT Super car spoiler and a Yoshimura exhaust system.
The all new Suzuki Kizashi sedan was officially launched in Japan earlier in the week. The car is equipped with a 2.4L engine with 180 HP that could deliver a maximum of 230 Nm of torque which is more than enough for a drive through the city. Suzuki brought the all wheel drive in this car for great cornering performance and better acceleration and they also focused on keeping the car really quiet.
With dual exhaust silencers and sound absorption material the car’s cabin is really quiet for a more pleasant ride. Don’t know about other guys, but I really like the engine’s sound and I would do anything to hear a powerful engine under the hood so I’m not too impressed with this “quiet feature” that this Suzuki has.
The 2010 Suzuki Kizashi Sedan will be available in dealerships all over Japan really soon and in the United States the car will be available in a couple of weeks.
The Frankfurt Auto Show is one of the most important motor shows in the world and everyone is getting ready for it.
