The Belgian VDS GT 001 Supercar Unveiled
The Belgian VDS GT 001 is one of those cars that you can’t really love or hate. I’ve been looking at it for the past 20 minutes and I still can’t pronounce myself. Developed by Raphael van der Straeten, this Belgian supercar is based on the Gillet Vertigo and boasts the same Maserati V8 4.2-liter engine under the hood.
The creator of the car has been involved in racing for several years and his Mustang FR500 GT3 track car, served as an inspiration for the VDS GT 001.
Under the bonnet, the Maserati engine develops around 480HP – 358kW and comes mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. Many of the car’s body parts are made out of carbon fiber and much like the aforementioned Gillet Vertigo, the VDS GT 001 might feature a chassis made from the same lightweight material.
There’s no word on the performance of the vehicle yet but from the sounds of it, the VDS GT will burn some rubber.
Officials added that a track-only R version of the VDS is already in the works and it will most likely be lighter and more powerful.
