Thumbs up for the Volkswagen Passat.

September 20, 2012, By Alexander Eckhart

Volkswagen has something to brag about these days. The company’s US division announced that the Passat has broken the previous sales record established in 2001. Back in those days, the popular Passat was sold in 77,523 units while so far this year, they’ve sold 77,524 units.

Even though the sale chart looks pretty good, the Passat still has miles to go in the midsize segment to catch up to other brands such as the Toyota Camry (280,000 units sold) and the Honda Accord (218,000 units sold).

Sales have gone up by 32 percent in August thanks to models like the Passat and the Jetta. It seems like both VW models have enjoyed an increased popularity among US buyers. Congrats Volkswagen!
