Trofeo Abarth 500 GB has been officially announced

Last week Abarth, Fiat’s in house tuning company has launched the UK version of the already popular Trofeo 500 race series. This one make series features Abarth’s new 500 Assetto Corse race cars and it was already really successful in 2009 in Europe. The new UK series are going to be called Trofeo Abarth 500 GB and will feature races on Britain’s best known circuits next year.
The race cars are going to be powered by a 1368cc 16 valve engine that develops 190 HP at 6,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 3,000 rpm. The new 500 Assetto Corse weight just 970 kg and it has amazing performances on track. The car has a small body kit and 17″ sport wheels for great handling and stability and Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth UK thinks the new series will have a full starting grid of talented entries next season.
Abarth will soon release a full calendar of race meetings for the Trofeo Abarth 500 GB.
