Volkswagen Showcases the Snowareg
Santa Claus has just finished delivering his presents and for those of you who have yet to receive any, there’s a way to go after Old Saint Nick. It seems like the guys at Volkswagen thought about this in advance and, given the fact that there’s no highway to the North Pole, they modified a Touareg so there wouldn’t be any problems.
Dubbed the “Showareg”, the vehicle has been built in 2011 for Volkswagen Sweden and it is based on the Touareg. The ultimate winter vehicle features tank-like tracks that work “perfect” on all surfaces, and a 4.2-liter V8 TDI engine that produces 340 HP – 250 kW and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
This combination enables the standard model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5.8 seconds and average 9.1 L/100 km (25.8 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of 239 g/km.
